Default One of those "Hmmm..." Moments - Xantia Wishbone Bush

    Photo says it all.

I make no secret of pushing the Xantia hard, but have to wonder if this was hurried along by either misalignment or poor quality. From memory the bushes were Sasic.

I've since been made aware of one similar failure overseas. The captive forward bush centre bolt apparently makes the escapade not quite so exciting as I'd imagined.

Looks a bit like my rear lower control arm bushes a couple of months ago. Completely stuffed and controlling nothing, less than 2 years after having them replaced in Qld. Cane Toads!

I don't know what brand my bushes were - I trusted the mechanic fitting them to supply decent quality. Even more frustrating, some weeks after getting job done I found the bolts weren't tight and lower control arm was as free to move as if bushes were stuffed.

New bushes supplied by EAI - we'll see how long they last...

    Cheers

    Le côté gauche.

There are emergent signs of the lower strap parting company at its crossed weld.

New bushes are TRW, I note they were tighter on the front eyes than Sasics removed.

My suspicion, is the old bushes were set up at the wrong angle (overly shallow) and thus spent too much time in a tensioned state.

Sorry - I missed the obvious metal fatigue in the first photo. Hope there's none of that under my Xantia

    Cheers

They were fitted by the fellow I recommended to do your muffler.

I think his forté was exhausts.
