Default Citroen Car Club of NSW is now on Facebook

(Repeat posting for those who didn't see it in the Froggy Chat forum)

As the title suggests, the official Citroen Car Club of NSW page has now launched on Facebook.

You can find it at -: http://facebook.com/cccnsw

The page will be updated with news, events and more, so if you're on Facebook, we'd welcome you to connect with us

Call me old fashioned but I would rather see the CCCNSW web site updated than a Facebook page.

I suspect a lot of existing members might not use Facebook... but there are plenty of people who do. I for one don't think it's a bad way of letting new people know the club exists.
    Cheers,
    Michael

Old people don't often get/understand Facebook.

    Younger people do.

If the CCCNSW gets a few new younger members by adding another contact point then hooray. Its the younger members who will keep the club scene going. All too many cars clubs seem to ignore that simple fact.

It is but another way of communicating to people - younger and older.

In an era of almost endless instant gratification, it is entirely possible to 'miss' people out when relying on them to log in to the CCCNSW site to find out information, when a post to a presence on Faceplant will have it close to the top of the things a person will see.

The more people that see the events, and the more often they see them, the more likely they are to come along and add further value to the club and the marques longevity overall.

The listing of events via Faceplant is one key area - they can be added to a persons list of events with no effort at all - no need to look at a different, dare I say it, 'paper' diary or add to even an electronic one - Faceplant will remind you.

If clubs wish to connect with the folk who will keep them financial in years to come, then the clubs need to be relevant and that means communicating with people in as many ways as practicable.

I'm a non Facebook person. It's part of generally eschewing cliques.

My reservations generally echo those posted earlier about upkeep of a parent website generally; while it's comparatively easy to extend the reach of something like the CCCNSW through such electronic media, the increased obligations of its upkeep are what nag at me.

Yes, it is my age - sometimes I value my privacy and someone relatively easily highjacked my Facebook account.

Is the FB page still up, and does it carry an advisory about the parent site's issues? Not being picky so much as curious.
