Default What to do with old DS starter?

After replacing the starter in the D last year, I of course now have a dead starter sitting in the shed with nothing to do. I know they can be rebuilt and in fact I have another rebuilt one sitting in a box somewhere too, but if all holds out with the factory rebuilt good one on the D I should not have to do that again for a loooooong time.

So, what are your suggestions for the old dead one?

Damn, I threw my last one away, I could've sent it to you Craig and then you'd have another dead one. My apologies, how thoughtless of me.

Yuck yuck yuck! So many comedians out of work....

So perhaps I should just duck out to the shed now and put it out for the metal scrappies to collect prior to the hard rubbish collection tonight?

Given the size and weight of the original starters I understand that dead ones do make excellent boat anchors..........

Perhaps you could remodel it into a trophy for the All French car day. that way someone could win something that belongs in the bin.

it's not a new concept Craig. We have made buggered old D parts into trophies before. the trick is creating a new categorie for the trophy. Perhaps worse cit on the day. thered be sooo many contenders.

A few years ago the CCC (US Club) came up with an award that we give out annually to an owner who has done a really bone-headed mangle while trying to work on his/her car.

I give you the "Broken Sphere Award"...... It has become just about as coveted as the 'Best in Show' award at our annual West Coast Rendezvous. The inscription reads "For the most egregious self-inflicted Citroen desecration" Just goes to show how really sick Citroen D/SM/2CV/TA owners are in the US (and I would imagine the rest of the world)

Aaw Steve, you must be living in a world of eternal guilt.

Was it you that mentioned the Broken Sphere award is bolted to your mantlepiece?

Depressed? After all the bad language I've introduced to your vocabulary and new ways to use it?

Yes - the bad part is that I am not Jewish........

I was trying hard to make it a permanent fixture, but the CCC board vetoed that idea.

Actually I don't have a problem with the language down under - I am just to damn polite, at least according to you

Actually I think I may have stumbled upon a good idea here,. Instead of putting up our best car for judging at the all french car day, give them our worst which obviously has earned Craigs trophy. Perhaps we could call it "Craigs Crap Car trophy" I know that he would love to be immortalised in this manner. Then ask the independant Judge if he could give us a list of thing we have to do to get it to concourse condition.

Now you wait, Steve! I didn't have a thing to do with that veto!

Dad was a Marine. I learned early.

If some of the cars I've seen in SoCal are any indication, you better make sure that inkwell is full.

For years, before the Broken Sphere, we had the Bucket and Brush Award, given to the dirtiest, least-prepped car at the show. Simple enough to put together and cheap- just the way we like it.

Seriously, If you are not doing anything this saturday , why not look up John Shepardson at Rozelle markets. He makes really nice industrial lamps and stuff out of scrap pieces of all kinds. Donate it to him.

It's alright Bill, Bert lost me when he mentioned Rozelle markets. A dangerous place to go - especially just before you move house!

It may be another Citroen myth but I've heard Rozelle markets has a stall exclusively for old DS starter motors
