Howdy does anyone know if a ds dizzy fits in a cx and works
i would like to put 123 ignition in it but they dont make one
a mate thought the dizzy turns the other way on a cx to a ds
not sure if that actually matters with 123 setup

DS distributor is driven through an offset slot whereas CX (my 2400 at least) is driven by a gear so not compatible.

I"m going to use a Hot-Spark hall effect conversion when I get around to it. I've purchased it and fitted it into a good CX distributor (Ducellier, not SEV). http://www.hot-spark.com/ This system eliminates points but does require the advance mechanism to be behaving. I found a new vacuum advance capsule on ebay France.

I'm surprised the 1-2-3 or Lumentition folk haven't done a CX - there are plenty in France at least.

Hi from Ted Cross ( Hawk and 123 Agent )

This is a common question. I think it may be possible to modify the new 123 Tune - D ignition system to suit a CX. The dog gear on the bottom can easily be removed for a CX gear. And the 123 will work in either direction. The previous 123 answer was back in 2006 and before the Tune model existed.

I will offer a 123 Tune at a discounted price if Balki or John wants to try and then we will all know.

Thanks for the link and the offer - those drawings with dimensions are great.

I'll measure up an old distributor.

Now, the obvious question: do you know or can you find out, as the "distributor" (sorry), whether anyone has actually done this? Surely to goodness a CX owner in Australia, UK or France has had a go by now?

Could you PM me with the details of the offer please?

    Cheers

Well, my spare CX distributor looks more like a Rolls Royce than a "D" on your drawings.

Attached are photos showing dimensions from the bottom of the mounting flange to the end of the driveshaft. About 93 mm for the CX gear and about 62 mm for the R8 drive slot. Both have the same diameter, about 27 mm.

    Back to you.....
