If they're both for the Safari I know which one I would prefer to fit!
The repro heater taps are a good thing to be finally available.

Unfortunately the easy fit item is for the DSpecial.
....yes the other one needs 16 bolts removed just to get to the cover plate.......
but ive run out of gas too many times NOT to get it working and i drive in constant fear that I have forgotten to zero the trip meter...

When undertaking the rejuvenation of the Safari some years ago, I recall with no pleasure the replacement of those 16 5mm bolts.

Over the entire job (the whole car), only two fasteners broke or failed. No prizes for guessing where one of them was!
I removed the cover once more to remove the thread which had broken in the welded nut. A tense but successful recovery without damage to the original thread. Cow of a job.

All the best for their smooth removal and replacement.

    Default fuel gauge tank float

Would you happen to know if this is a universal 12V float? The early D had either a Jaeger or Veglia fuel gauge with a 'matching' float. My Veglia float has given up the will to live. Your repro looks much better than those old bits of floating cork...

On the same theme, the early D had either a Veglia or Jaeger water temp gauge, again each unit with a matching sender. Can be a pain, if they go wrong.

    Cheers,

    Bernard

I dont know but it looks to be a standard plastic float.
I would think most units use a plastic float now.
