Default Out of the garage today.

Thanks to the numerous help and encouragement I have received here in the past year, today the DS23 drove out of the garage by herself!

Refurbished power steering, new electric fuel-pump, reconditionned auto gearbox, new paint and ancillaries like lhm, plugs, oil, etc....

Next stop is the famous Reco-Sphere for a new set.

I have blocked oout the cold start injector supply, but after 5 minutes the car still starts coughing and dies. I feel it is not far away now to fix that.

    Thanks Dino,

Unfortunately, the interior is not up to being photographed yet, as I have given priority to the mechanicals.
The upholstery is quite damaged but a beautiful blue grey velours like material. To reproduce will cost a fair bit of money. What you see iin there are just supa-cheap seat covers.

Another milestone achieved, well done, you know your car far better for having done much of the work yourself - they're big learning curve and you have persevered and won through

    Well done Philippe.
As Greenblood said, it's a learning curve and now you know the car better, it's a bonding experience.

    Another leather interior perhaps?

Look forward to assisting with your suspension needs.

    Just perfect!!

I like the black vinyl top with the blue colour body, it looks different but a beautiful different, I prefer this to the blue painted roof!!

Congrats!!! She looks beautiful, regarding the engine stuttering and dying, I wonder....... After alot of reading I think I found my problem (well too late now anyway because the whole D jet system is out) now I wonder if you *could*maby* have a problem too, your manifold pressure sensor, if that unit so much as think of not working it will give you alot of headache with so many problems it is unimagineable, but before you think of that first enjoy your car as it is out of the garage now and finally moving.

Get it roadworthy and then you can start to look for the real culprite, but do not be surprised if the MAP ends up to be the ( or part of) problem, just an idea..... i can easily be wrong, just my fault finding lead me to this unit

Enjoy your car, she looks perfect!!

    Cheers

    Dino,

Wonderful job, love the blue. I'm still ruminating on the new colour for the Pallas. My interior is knackered too so I'm keeping an eye on the aussie dollar and will pick up a new set from Westernhemispheres. They have blue too for about 600 bucks I think, not sure what the freight cost would be.
Which blue did you go with?

    Again great job,

    John.

    Default Stunned look

    Well done,

Looks like it is a bit stunned to be out in the open, enough to have its eyes crossed!

Best of luck with the cable & spring thingies that steer the headlights.

    Colour is Bleu Delta AC640.
The last colour of the last DS ever built.

Am still looking to hear suggestions as to why engine still coughs and dies after
    lots of black smoke appears.

Any ideas welcome to solve riddle

Take it to Lance at DS motors or Ian at Euroserve and I am sure all will be well without the stresses and mis diagnoses that can happen by asking questions on site here. Suggestions from afar can be nothing but hit and miss conclusions that may result in more $$ outlay than is necessary. Lance is the man with metal bumpered cars !!! and Red Hill or Newstead are pretty central to the city.

    M. Citroen,
Is it a trick of the light or is the rubbing strip on the rear mudguard a left side instead of a right side one. It doesn't appear to follow the crease line.

No trick of light. Strip not installed properly yet.

DS will head for Lance and John eventually, but am far from the city so $360 tow truck there and
    back.
Also there has been so much to do with this car that I have been working on the stuff I can do first then will let the guys at D motors work their magic later on.

Stuck needle valve in carburettor top? Flooding the carby will produce black smoke.

Oh bugger... yours is an injected DS23!

Leaking cold start injector would be the first check and very easy to isolate. Remove fuel hose from start injector (start valve in D jetronic speak) and plug with a suitable bolt and clamp.

This is not a 'hit and miss' suggestion but straight from the D Jetronic manual

PS. Love the vinyl roof - very '70s.
