    Default 012 citroen c5

Hadn't had a french car since the 1964 Peugeot 403 (when new). Also had a bit of time in a DS in the 1960's. As a 10 year old, fell in love with the suspension button.
I recently purchased a 2006 citroen c5 tourer. After 6 months I loved it so much I ordered a 2012 citroen c5 exclusive tourer (sight unseen). Apparently it has arrived in Australia. Can't wait. The dealers don't have brochures or specs. Anyone who has photos etc, would appreciate to know what I've let myself in for.

You get a glass roof, satnav, electric tailgate, 18 inch wheels with 245/45 tyres, heated front seats, driver's with massage function.
Radio/CD player has 10gb hard drive space for mp3s, and a slot for a sim card so your car can have its own phone.
However, bluetooth and USB are not standard. I gather that the preferred model of bluetooth is the Parrot 3100, one of which I have on order along with the relevant equipment for the USB connection. You can see info on the Parrot on the Cit UK site, and download the user manual from Parrot.
The C5's owner's manual will have the wrong info for our model of radio/CD player - my dealer is getting me one as a pdf, but you can find it on the web.

Congrats, I picked up my 12' exclusive tourer a couple of weeks ago, love it! The bluetooth/USB is an issue, the tech is going to sort out a USB connection in my glovebox so I can down load my itunes, mp 3 etc. The SIM in the car is suppose to be superior to the bluetooth, just have to piggy back the SIM with your phone, sounds complicated but will have a crack at it this week.
Did you get a white one? our cars might be cruise ship buddies as we could pick white or Gris Harrier.
Oh the 12' has the LED running lights, looks very smart!

This was easy enough to get. From the Citroen UK site:

I have no choice but to answer the phone in the car - crazy modern first-world problem but that's how it is.
The police don't like it if I have the phone in my hand.
I have a sim card in the satnav - it has its own rather than a copy of the one in my mobile.
The advantage of bluetooth over this arrangement is that more than one phone can use the hands-free connection.
So I'm having bluetooth installed as well.

Yes I am getting the wgite one. I had a choice of the grey or white as there were only two on the ship. I believe they arrived in Brisbane about the 24th January.

    Hello dprighel.
Do these latest C5's have a 2l or 2.2l motor? If so let us know what the specs. are. I would be interested in comparing them to my 2010 C5. 2litre.
On two recent 350 kilometre trips mine averaged 5.9 L/100 km. Not bad for a heavy car.

    The 4-cylinder diesel is a 2.0 litre, with a new Euro-V (?) spec.
Happy to be informed if that's wrong - it's hard to find out specific details, as the Citroen Australia website is not up-to-date.
Some versions of this update model apparently came in with 2.2, earlier in 2011.

You must have more pull with Citroen. Mine is now ready in wodonga but waiting on tint a car. will be available on wednesday. I will be getting the white one. there were two wagons on the boat that were unallocated as of early January. I had a choice of white or grey so they must be sisters.

In the UK you can get them with the 6 speed EGS - that should improve the economy a bit

Yep cruise ship buddies. I went with the dark grey, wife wanted the white one but won that battle. The car is great, it is soooo comfortable and quiet.
Its the 2.0 Euro 5 spec diesel, I'm doing mid 5's on the freeway. 2.2 was not an option, couldn't even order it from France.

Have you anything you can compare the comfort/ economy / quietness with?

Ref. previous cars or current competition.

Having only owned and driven C5's over the past 9 years I wonder if I have become biased.

My Xantia was the best car I had ever owned at the time I bought it.
My current C5 feels that way too.

A statesman. Had a 2002 calais with FE2 suspension- best drivers car. 2009 G6E quite good. 2006 C5 not bad. 2012 C5 fantastic. Drove 6 hours to Woodside, Wife playing scrabble on her iphone for 6 hours and first time she didn't get carsick. She has been won over and now loves the C5.

I stopped even hands free telephone answering after I drove through a red light without noticing the intersection. Be very scared.

Sorry for hijack, but relevant I reckon.

Enjoy the new car by the way. Sounds lovely.

Does the new car have a USB connection in the box between the seats?

That's funny .... I have a tired stinky, rattly old 1985 CX ..... I find the Xantia made the CX feel brilliant, as did the XM ..... The C4 makes the tired aging CX feel like a luxury limousine on steriods. The more modern they get, the better the CX is in comparison.

The best bit about new Citroens is how incredible they make my tired old shitty pre-psa Citroens to drive in comparison Just stupid stuff like having to constantly hold the steering wheel and fight it against road cambers sh!ts you. That sort of crap was a thing of the past in 1955..... Why does a 2008 model need to do it

It does it gently ... drives you bloody insane, the Xantia did it, the XM did it .... In a C4 that's done 25,000kms from new I'm not expecting any problems

It's only noticable when you travel for over an hour on the highway (along with a numb @rse and legs that are starting to get tingly .... ). I'd rather take my CX anyday, my wife loves the C4 and would rather we go in that a million times over .... She thinks my shitty old cars are always about to break down at any second And doesn't like cars that are stinky and give her asthma.

THen again she was far from impressed a few weeks back when she managed to turn the stench dispenser on in the C4's dash.... God it stunk something shocking. They must have filled the stench dispenser the dash when the car went in for it's first service. My parents sure never wanted a car that pumped stink at them whenever you turned the ventilation on.

I should see if there's an easy way to get the stink dispenser out of the dash and empty it.
