    Default Remote Xantia

My keyless door remote has stopped working. I replaced the battery but still no life. Anyone experienced this and what are the possible fixes?

What model Xantia. Our VSX has had an aftermarket unit fitted as it is cheaper than the genuine part (surprise surprise). Also it works at much greater range than the standard unit did so it is better overall. Thats a 1994 VSX

Our SX is still working with the original plip, well half working as it will no longer lock the car. I am sure the problem is the switch in the remote unit has become disconnected from the circuit board. I have already been there with my soldering iron and it was more good luck than good management that fixed the unlock function as the switches are surface mount components and very small. The SX is a 2000 model.

If the whole thing has stopped working it is probably the main unit so a new aftermarket system would be the best option.

I assume you have checked the relevant fuse

    Hi there IE23,
if you are any kind of electronic service wizzard, and can use a very fine, small soldering iron you should be able to fix it.
I found that mine had two dry joints, these are very common.
If you are not confident you could post it to me, I live in Melbourne, and I'll happily repair any bad or "dry" solder joints for you, for a bottle of Limoncello or similar.

    Cheers...George 1/8th.

Well, you see, I like Limoncello.
