    Default Lovely weather...

Just thought you guys might like to see this, it's the first snow we've had this winter, this far south at least.

This time last year, we were in the grips of really cold weather, the coldest for over 30 years....not so this time.

Yeah thanks Smiffy - we're in the grips of a really cold summer! IIRC it has not got to even 30C in Sydney yet this year. Giving everyone the bloody sh!ts!

Hope you guys have a better winter than the past two you've had.

Personally, from owners of cars really not that much fun to drive in temperatures over 25c, I think this weather is a perfect opportunity to be driving classics as much as possible.

Who needs airconditioning if the temperature outside is struggling to break 25c?

Well of course there is that aspect. I did take the D out one day this week and it was never unpleasantly hot inside.

We are into the second day of a major Atlantic storm which has brought flooding rain and 100 kmh winds to the west of France. We are on Alerte Orange which means among things, do venture out unless you have to. Well I had to, I had run out of argon and had to drive to Bordeaux for a full bottle. The Honda was one of the few private cars on the road and speeds were well down. We got to the trading estate where the welding supplier is located only to find its central roads flooded. I got through but the engine was missing on at least one cylinder, soaked in the bow wave. Back home now, I wonder what would have happened if the water got into the 100 volt electric motor circuitry.
We have had several breaks in electric power and our heating system cuts out during the night due to back pressure in the chimney. There were trees down on the main roads but here the vulnerable trees came down in the last storm. One person has died, Knocked down by a wave that broke over the sea wall just south of here. Our electric sliding gate was lifted off its rail by the wind overnight.
Fortunately, I got the GS to shelter yesterday but it is certainly not a time to venture out in classic vehicles unless it is a DUKW.

Argon/CO2 for my TIG welding. Bordeaux households carry adequate wine stocks to last out a Revolution.
There are 300,000 households without power as I write but a tiny patch of blue sky has appeared. It is the Calais region that has it bad at the moment.

This is what I like about this international community, snow in England, storms in France, mild to hot rainy weather in Australia and super hot unusually dry summer here in South Africa, we don't have water certain times during the day. I needed to do some things on my safari, the car was outside, I got a nice neck line tan!! was a nice 35 degrees celsius today

    Cheers

They look pretty much the same don't they? The CX here is 'Rouge Delage'. I've got the original wheels, but like smiffy says, big $'s to put TRX's on them...

We brought in a bloody carbon tax and have had the coldest and wettest December in half a century, thats what has stuffed global warming.

Can't complain. The Xantia's aircon (or more correctly blower fans) has stopped working in anticipation that global warming would be stopped in its tracks by the scarlet filly.
