That's a first for me Matthew

I'd suggest it is more likely a drawer than a door... in which case an easy manufacture?

Hmm Matthew, I'm surprised you were able to see that little addition, what with all that red leather and carpet ;-))

Sorry mate, that's a new one on me, quite possibly a drawer as Chris suggested.

No, never saw one over here either. I like it though, looks very neat. That Becker stereo they have fitted sure wouldn't have slotted there.

The crease isn't difficult to duplicate in sheet metal.
The cubby hole was only used for a radio in Europe, being of a now obscure size standard long since superceded. I knew you knew that, BTW.

If it is a hinged panel, the fixing would be interesting were it to be unseen when open.

That red leather interior is really something, the creases in the hides scream comfort to me.

Something tells me this car could possibly be a fuel injection.... That kick panel (or whatever it's called) at the foot brake is something I really like!!! Do anyone know where to get something like that???

They come up every now and then on Ebay (try french Ebay) .. yes!..very high bling factor! Needless to say I have one ready to install in the DecidedlySpecial when the time is right.. will look very nice against the red carpet. Strictly speaking not an original fit for my car but it is now!!

Perhaps the radio panel was fabricated from an old glove box door??

    Must dash.. London beckons!

Good eye, Corne. You look at where the choke knob would be, you'll see a blanking plate.

Actually I didn't see the blanking plate till i posted. I noticed the ecu cover plate which is covered by carpet. I actually think that all ds's should have that cover plate. It looks much neater

Yah, there were a number of producers for that special size. First was Continental Edison, who were basically the factory-approved supplier. I know that Philips made a version, and I think Grundig and Blaupunkt also made the radios. I don't know about Becker, I've never seen one. There were also a number of aftermarket makers. IIRC, UFO had several shots posted of the different radios produced.

Of course, I didn't even notice that until you mentioned it.
