I don't know the answer for sure, but the two brands definitely share engines and the RFV bit in the VIN means it's the same emission variant. If you are going to get caught out it would be if the castings were different to accomodate different brackets and bolts on bits. I know that for some other engines that you would think are the same, i.e. RHR HDi engines, the blocks are different for auto and manual versions and therefore not interchangeable. I'd be looking at the online parts system for your car and the donor via the VIN and comparing major parts.

That Xantia engine is fairly robust, so why do you need to change it? Head gaskets can be a bit weak and often weep at the rear corners, but that shouldn't spell the end for the engine.

The only reason is that I want to keep on using the car. that way I will be able to rebuild the "new" engine, while still using the car and replace it when done. if any of the members has technical material/workshop manual for the engine - that will be a great help, since the Haynes doesn't cover the 2 liter engine.
