    Icon5 What is this seal?

    Hi folks,

I have just acquired, in amongst some Renault parts, 2 x NOS rubber 'joints' about 50mm in diameter.

they are in Citroen packaging (not citroen/Peugeot/Talbot) with part number 5 435 906.

    Any clues welcomed.

    Hi Gerry,

I have never had any success posting photos on this forum - I have followed instructions using 3 different methods, with no success.

It is just a round black rubber ring 51mm OD. I'm hoping that someone may be able to trace it via a parts book. I assume it is for a model made before the Peugeot takeover.

    cheers, Don

I needed to get my mind off of the Chargers loss to the Raiders tonight (ugh ), so I took it as a challenge, and did a bit of sleuthing. Your part number, 5 435 906, comes up as a caliper piston sealing ring (one of two used in the caliper) for the front brake on a GSA. It will also likely fit a GS, although I can't say for sure. The info is listed under group #4-451-10, on the GSA parts microfiche, #001 182, edition 8/81.

The book is available on Tony Jacksons' site. If you're into the Citroen DS, GS, SM, CX or A Series you need that site:

To post a photo, at present there is a 100kb limit on size and a limted range of formats. There was at one time also a rule about at least 50 posts before you could post a photo. So, take this as a challenge!

Resize your photo to 100kb or less (Use Paint on Windows etc.).
Click on 'Go Advanced' next to the 'Post Quick Reply' button.
Scroll down, click 'Manage attachments', which will open a new window,
'Browse' for you file, find it and 'Upload' it.
Look in the lower pane of the popup to see if's accepted the file.
Close the popup window and a thumbnail should appear below what you are about to post.
    Try that.

I prefer thumbnails to inline images, but that's my problem I guess.

    Default GS/GSA front brake seals

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

If anyone can use them (2 only, which it seems will do only one caliper) PM me and I will post them to your address.

    cheers, Don

I might have misread, but I think it's one of these per caliper, then there is another seal.
