    Default Thankyou!

Every now and again the true Aussiefrogs/French Car spirit shows how great it can really be.

I wouldnít normally do this online but I feel the need to publicly thank a fellow Frogger for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Some of you know I have been restoring a CX for this yearís Cit-In.

It has been a real labour of love (and stupidity) with almost $20k invested to turn it from a vandalised and ready to wreck CX2400 C-Matic into an ultra reliable 5spd diesel 2500D. I have experienced a lot of delays, most notably a bulk load of new parts being sent from CX Basis that arrived near on 3 months late. Anyway that pushed everything back including most of the trim work, a lot of which has had to be postponed until after Cit-In because quite simply I ran out of time. We finally got to the point last Thursday when we went to put her on the truck to Brissie (the plan had been to go back via Darwin but became Melbourne/Adelaide for work reasons) She was finally all ready to go, a load off my shoulders I thought until I was told that the usual guaranteed 10 days travelling time to Brisbane would actually be 14 days (working days!)

I quickly deduced that there was no point putting the car on the truck if it wasnít going to make it to QLD in time and figured ďbugger itĒ Iíll not go.

This is when I rang a fellow WA Frogger who was to join myself and another local CX on the drive back from Stanthorpe to Perth. This particular Frogger not only sympathised with my plight but took it upon himself to cancel his planned flight to QLD this Tuesday and offer to drive my CX over to Cit-In so that I and the car could still go!.

The person is our ever so humble ďrmacĒ (Ross McGuiness) and I cannot thank him enough!

I had to put this on the record as this is one of the nicest gestures a fellow French Car owner has ever made in all my years of Frog ownership and shows just what a great community it is.

Anyway the CX was dropped off today for the start of her long adventure to QLD and back (pics attached) and I wish Ross all the best on the trip over.

See you all in sunny QLD for Cit-In!

Yep. One good looking car. That was a nice bronze they used on the CX 2400.

    An amazing restoration/modification works.
And a great effort from Ross to bring her over. Is Bob's canary yellow 2200 going to be in Stanthorpe as well?

That looks brilliant. I've never seen that colour on a tidy CX before (it's always been aged/crazed/ugly)

Good luck with the trip over. Does Ross have other nutters.... er, I mean "fellow froggers" contact details incase he has any problems on the way over?

Yes, lovely thing to do (referring to Ross of course). Huge amount of work on the car by Bob Senn too - you guys are gluttons for punishment!

If we weren't tied up otherwise, I'd offer to drive with Ross, but cannot. Lovely thing to do.

Justin, did you buy that leather steering wheel that Shane told us about???

Car looks great Justin, just great. Have a great time. And so good that it has been rescued.

    Cheers

Hi all thanks for all the comments.

Shane that is a good thought re the numbers, if anyone thinks they may be able to help in case something goes wrong along the way (touch wood it doesnít!) perhaps email me or Ross your details, that would be greatly appreciated.

Kimmo, yep the yellow beast is being loaded onto the Indian Pacific this very morning for its journey to Sydney then up to Stanthorpe from there.

John, this leather steering wheel sounds interesting; where do I find the info on that? I must have missed that one; I definitely need a new wheel.

The main thing I didnít get round to doing was replacing all the carpet, I am actually thinking now that I may have time to find a trimmer in Brisbane to do it? It is a possibility if I could found one that could do the job in a few days or am I just dreaming! If anyone knows of a good Brissie trimmer that can work fast let me know You never know I guess.

Thanks again and looking forward to catching up with you all at Cit-In.

    Justin,

It is about 6 threads down the list - for CX owners or similar, from Shane.

I've emailed a screen capture of the eBay listing to both you and Bianca.

    Justin,

I've checked around a few motor trimmers on the south side of Brisbane. This is the one that I would go to

    Archerfield Auto Upholsterers
    Shed 3 / 124 Boniface St
    Archerfield QLD 4108
    Ph 07 3274 5310
    0412 639 888
    [email protected]

Owners name is John White. He made most sense and was willing to talk in detail about what we could and couldn't do when I took the CX there last year. I didn't actually get the re-upholstery done in the end - because other things consumed the funds, so I can't actually vouch for his work, but he was recommended by two panel beaters that I spoke to.

I'd be surprised if anyone could do the job in the week before Easter. We won't be the only car club holding an event....

I have covered the steering wheel in my CX with leather. The wheel was one of the better ones around so it was a good starting point. It was as simple as cutting a leather strip, punching holes and stitching. Sounds easy but I had to cut a second piece after getting the first one wrong and it took all day to stitch it into place. Time consuming and fidly, but worth the effort.

You will be able to see it in Stanthorpe.

Thanks Rob, I'll ring them and a few other trimmers around Brisbane tomorrow. I too think it will be a stretch but as they say nothing ventured nothing gained. See you in Stanthorpe! Hopefully we get a good amount of CX's there, don't remember too many being in Tassie?

    Hey Guys,

You are making me think I should bring the CX Wagon up to Stanthorpe - just to show the other end of the resto process pre resto or maybe working resto done 10 years ago. And it needs a good run now it is on historic plates.

Justin, what surburb are you staying Brissie pre/post Cit-in?

    Cheers,

    Ken W

Yes, definitely bring the CX wagon! Not sure where I am staying yet in Brissie, fly in late on the 21st and then heading to Stanthorpe the next day so most likely stay CBD or thereabouts for that one. Usually try to stay central though. We are back in Brisbane for the 27th after a quick trip to Hervey Bay.

    ------------------------------

    INCASE YOU DON'T FIND A TRIMMER - -

I have found a good one that has done work on our D's close to the centre of Brisbane - -

ALL CAR INTERIORS at the very end of Somerset street where it meets Lutwyche Road (you go back way)
    Ph 07- 38571141 or 0402317374.

    Tell Stuart I referred you.

Thanks John, luckily I found one yesterday who is going to work on her from Monday through to Thursday, talk about going to the wire! Place I found was All Vehicle Upholstery in Rocklea. They seem good to deal with and have been in the business for 30 years so they should be OK.

    Cheers,

Awesome! Good to hear that it's on the road for CitIn - especially from the help of another Frogger!

BTW - How does the performance of the 2500D compare to the injected and carby 2400's?
