    Default BX horn problem

    Hello again.

Well, the BX 19 TZi horns have stopped working.

With advice, I found them eventually behind the wheelarch plastic on the left hand side. Horns are fine but not getting any juice.

No fuses blown (although the fuses are not the same as any of the configurations in the Haynes manual. In fact I sometimes wonder whether the 19TZi model appears officially anywhere!

I pulled out the column switch and tried two other spares and none get juice to the horns. Probably they haven't all failed in the least used contact set so I suspect something else. I've reassembled the truly amazing plastic jigsaw puzzle too. What a system.....

I wonder whether my car has a horn relay (not shown in Haynes that I can find)?

Has anyone had the same joy by any chance? And fixed it of course.......

    Cheers

Have you tried applying power directly to the horns? That may be where the problem is.

    Hi Craig,

Surely have. Loud noise when pullled off and 12V applied direct to horns.

Tried test lamp on positive feed to horns and no power is getting to the terminal at the end of the wire.

    Strange failure.

I'm going to have to trace the wire unless someone comes up with a problem they've found with one of these.... Ouch.

    Cheers

    WORKING AGAIN!

Well, I guess I'll never know. I tried everything and to no effect and found no fault other than lack of power to the horns.

So I spoke nicely to the car and left her overnight and then went for a drive today to pamper her with new paint, and voila! horns are now working perfectly. Now there isn't a fault to find of course.

    Cheers

Damn I was reading this with a fickle of hope in my eyes! Because the horn in my mi16 just stopped and appears to be having the same problem! I cant find any relays, the fuse is fine and the horns work!

Alwell I'll just go to supercrap get some loud aftermarket air horns and wire it up myself!
