    Default C5 Timing Belt

I'm about to change the timing belt in my C5 HDi (2 Litre) but can't begin till I find a supplier of Belt Tension gauges.
Does anyone know of a source in Aus. where I can buy one that won't send me to the poor house?

    Default Timing belt tools

    Try this:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CITROEN-and-PE...item4153c125b5

I have also asked for any loaner items around or even for dimensions to fabricate same (see post earlier today).

    Default C5 timing belt.

Thanks Farmpug, I have seen that. I get the impression that all C5 owners have taken their cars to Citroen dealers for service otherwise surely there would be some mention of tension gauges.

    Hi
I do not see any tool in that set which looks like a belt tension gauge . There is a belt tension adjuster which looks like an allen key with a handle

The only electronic tension gauges I've seen are in the region of £300-500 on eBay.

Tighten the tensioner, spit on a thumb, prod the belt and if it doesn't budge, she'll be right.
This one of many reasons why owner servicing is fading from sight.
Best leave it to a dealer and buy a DS to enjoy the engineering.

Default Wow, the old finger trick.

Hello fellow Citroen fanatics. I didn't realise there was so many around the world.

Thank you Gerry Freed for your advice. However, I think the time for the old finger trick has passed.
If you want a belt to last these days you must get the tension right. Which brings me back to my previous comment. Doesn't anyone do their own belts anymore?
I'm beginning to think that I am alone in the woods. Ah well, that's why we chose Citroens, isn't it.
    Cheers.

    Default les bains

Bye the bye, Gerry Freed. Where, in France, is Andernos les bains? I am only familiar with the area of Provence, which I think is a wonderful part of the world.

Its on the left. Looking at the map. On the long straight bit of land by the sea. Adjacent Bordeaux. On the Bassin d'Arcachon. (The large bay(No, thats not what it means in French))

    A lovely spot.
    Regards,

    Garth.
