    Default total oil

I had my C5 hdi serviced last week, I was advised by the dealer that they had used TOTAL oil, when in fact the service Invoice advises that they used Mobil esp oil, no excuses now for dealers who substitute oils, appart from that I am not happy with the service carried out, I will buy my own Total Oil and change service dealers, enough is enough.

Total 'on tap' now I heard yesterday morning at my dealer in inner Melbourne. Celebrated at lunchtime with a Peroni on tap. I won't have to take it to a Peugeot dealer again just for the oil change.

    Hi Shaun

Good to hear that Total is coming back to Melbourne - what about making sure that everyone that comes onto AF knows about your presence by taking one of the various advertising packages that are available - you won't get cheaper focussed advertising anywhere on the net
Those people that say I know - generally don't.

I recommended a new D owner and fellow AFer in Melbourne to contact
    Total Oil Australia in Victoria.

They don't keep LHM, no pricing either.
Difficult to support a product we can't purchase readily?

    Default Cheap LHM

EAI in Box Hill sell LHM for $12.65 per litre and have truckloads of it, plus fantastic service (at least that's my recent experience with them).

EAI have opened a branch in Sydney.
European Auto Imports. Is this the same company?
If so, they are advertising 1 litre of LHM for $30.25 - not $12.65.
DS23 Citroen Safari - 1974 (restoration and modifications).
BMW 525i Touring - 1993 (current drive car).
Golf Mk3 2 litre - 1997 (rejuvinate for the daughter)
Honda Odyssey - 2003 (keeping it going for the wife)
Toyota Rav4 - 1996 (given to the son. most reliable vehicle of all of them)

    Default Eai $12

Yes European Auto Imports in Melbourne is where you buy LHM for $12.65/litre. Even expensive places in Melbourne only charge $16.50/litre, so I think the $30/litre pricing may be incorrect.

I also have a Peugeot 504, and prices from EAI for 504 parts are ridiculously cheap.

Disappointing that with all the fan fare of the arrival of Total, that a few of the main products likely to be used by Froggers are not available.

    No LHM
    No BV gearbox oil

Shaun tried hard for me, but in the end I was told to use something similar - which I was already doing, and hoping to improve upon. Something similar also means a competitor.

Total in Sydney want me to buy Elf oil.

    Cheers

EAI explained to me that the $30/litre was for late model Citroens.
They still sold the Green LHM for $12.65/litre. I purchased 6 litres.

    Thanks for the advice.

Can anyone recommend an approved service centre in Melbourne that actually services the car as required by Citroen not just go through the motions and does half a job like my first service with my Grand Picasso 2010 model . They said they use Total received car back with Mobil 1 used then I found it had to be topped up.The didn't even wash it properly so i hate to even think what else they missed. its coming up to its 20,000 klm service. so i would appreciate some input. Maybe i need to insist that next service is done under my presence (supervision) to ensure its done properly.

    Hi Folks,

Here in Perth, I got LHM Plus & Hydrarincage directly from WA Total distributor "Golden West Lubricants" ph 08 9452 3422, 1 Barcelona Way. Maddington. They had stacks of ordinary oils when I visited, however the Cit stuff I wanted had to be ordered (20 litre LHM & 5 hydrarincage) from France (or was it the Philippines), delivery 12 weeks. Prices were astoundingly cheap, no more than a hi Q engine oil.

    Regards,
    Chris

    Where do you think? Elves!

I think if you were to use any oil that meets the specification of the manufacturer, they would not be able to dud you on warranty. If you want to know the specifications of the oils you should use in your vehicle, ask the manufacturer. It is not good enough for them to specify an oil manufacturers secret potion, it must have an SAE or Euro spec that can be met by any supplier that cares to.

Makes sense that elves would make Elf oil

I think I got it sorted as long as it's 5W40 oil it should be fine. It's more expensive than what I'm used to pouring down my car, but that one was 21 years old and towards the end it cost me more in oil than it did in petrol a week. But the suspension was still better!

$12.65 or $30 for LHM? I would guess the price should be somewhere in between.

Re Elf: I thought Elf and Total were essentially the same outfit, so you'd expect some products could be the same under different names.
