Default 2009 C5 Citroen, Xantia VSX like suspension noises

Just in the last 24 hours, after 21 months owning the car, and admittedly, with the radio / music off which is uncommon, I have become aware of noises from the rear, not the brakes, but when slowing to a stop, sometimes, sounding just like my dancing Xantia. Anyone heard this with Hydractive III? Is it normal? The car goes up to full height with no warnings and in every way is performing normally.

Is the spare tyre and all of its inserts tight in the boot? Mine was doing this at first and once it was all tied down properly the noise disappeared.

Thanks Craig, but it turns out to be the rear brake after all. I replaced the rear pads yesterday (had them replaced) at 17000k. I do only inner city kilometres. Had the disc ground a little and the whole job was $300 at an inner city dealer.
