    Great story!

I was up at the shops reading AF via Tappatalk when I saw this thread so I was able to grab a copy.

    Cheers,
    Michael

....and it would end beautifully if that car was in my garage!

    I had the same thought!

Great minds think alike. But don't take comfort in this, presumably this means the others are out there all doing the opposite. It's hard to know which camp we're in.
    Cheers,
    Michael

Interesting article. It's great to see this car in much the same condition as it was when it passed through my family all those years ago.

The wording in the article is not exactly clear, but is Jim Reddiex really claiming to have delivered this car?

That's what I like to see, the Citroen camaraderie in full flight... I vote this the Citroen post of the week

Least of all an invitation to the owner of the cars he plans to cut up!

By the way Chris, I may have to disassociate myself from you lot your idea of camaraderie involves the wielding of angle grinders!
    Cheers,
    Michael

You DS fiends might be interested in this. They sell DS upholstery and all sorts of other great stuff. The only catch is their in France. http://www.asci78.fr/album/automobile-ancienne/ so I hope your French is better than mine.

    Default DS interiors

I'd be pretty unhappy if I went to pick up my DS from the upholster and he had decided to redecorate the interior in an non original pattern.

so what are you saying the DS interior is not original patern? The 205 ralye interior which i am interested in, is spot on, fabric is true as well.

    Default Decapotble

I m still recovering from that article.

That car is heaven to me.

The most gorgeous and beautiful car on the planet no doubt.

    Right hand drive.

Words cannot express the beauty of that car. An amazing find. Utterly superb.

Did anyone see the DS decapotable that recently went for a shade under $650k?

    Google it.

The car looks amazing in the flesh, too.

These were taken during the little AF trip to Gayndah in '08

Sadly it's much photographed and rarely driven. It would have been superb to have it at Gayndah beside the other decaps there.

What I didn't get in regards to the article is how Les never drives it and yet there's a photo of him cruising in the car (unless it's been photoshopped).

The car was actually driven for that photoshoot - up and down the road near the house I believe.

The old sales ledgers held by the CCCNSW show what I think is that car as:

    Date sold - 8/10/1968
    T.A.Holt (McPhail)
    "Tondarra" Bethungra
    DS21 Convert
    U/R 031809686
    Aqua/Natural
    Invoice price $9485.00
    Cost price $7521.26
C/A $1050.00 (Anyone got an idea what that is?)
    Retained Gross $913.74

It was almost double the price of a DS21 BVH.

That would be the car as it came from southern NSW.

So what you're implying is that if Peter and Les called up the CCCNSW when they first heard of the car's existence, they would've saved a few years of searching through the NSW countryside for it?

I'm fairly certain that the C/A amount will be the taxes applicable to the sale of the car at that time and it may or may not include the import duty - It's been a few years since I worked in motor vehicle wholesale finance and floorplan bailment arrangements....
