    Default Moby Dick is metamorphosing!

Those stalwarts who have been following the development of Moby Dick from Mild Mannered D-Special to replica of Jean-Claude Ogier's 1970 Ampol trial winning car may be interested in this photo.

It shows the final trial fitting of the bar I've created to try to replicate the original. I've also attached a photo of the original car for comparison. (And no, I don't intend putting a bend in the bottom bar to match it up!)

I'm in the process of painting it over the next few nights, but I reckon it's close to the original.

I'm also very proud of myself for creating it!

Looks like a neat job Pottsy.

Out of curiosity, how is it mounted to the car?
    Cheers,
    Michael

    "Déesse" Roland Barthes, 'Mythologies', 1957

The Déesse has all the characteristics of one of those objects fallen from another universe that fed the mania for novelty in the eighteenth century and a similar mania expressed by modern science fiction: the Déesse is first and foremost the new Nautilus.

    Chris, I cheated.

I decided that maybe Mr Citroen knew best and reverted to the DC3 propeller. Hasn't overheated since! I HATE it when they're right! Despite giving up on the electric fan idea, I have gone electronic in the ignition with one of Ted's finest 123 ignition devices. Add to that the Pleiades reco-ed spheres and rack and you'll see that (a) I'm broke and (b) the Whale is close to a new car underneath!

Thanks for the kind comments re the bar, all, I'm really amazed at how well it's turned out.

The mountings are a pair of bars going back through the grilles where the horn sounds come out and bolting to the front cross member, using existing holes. The ends either side are a simple plate with slot arrangement that slides in at the bumper ends. I'll take some photos and post them first chance I get.

Oh, and I'm calling it a Bunny Bar, given that it might stop a bunny but definitely not a bull or a roo!

I can't wait now to see how the old girl looks with the signwriting done as well.

I reckon we'll turn a few heads on the Re-run!
