    Default Xantia gearbox?

Last year I had to replace my gearbox and the replacement gearbox has these nubers on top

    20CM00 C
    4611616

Is this a Xantia gearbox? or a peugeot gearbox.

    Hi,

Where abouts on the gearbox are these numbers written. My sone has the BE3 gearbox out of his BX 16 valve at present and I could compare numbers if I could find them. It has BE3 cast in casing just to the right (as you face the front of the car) of the top gear change lever.

I think BE3 is a type description and the 20CM00 C will be a model number which describes the exact sorts of parts and gear ratios that the box contains. I think the bottom number will be the serial number.

I know AX gearboxes had this sort of labelling and I have seen a label on the BE3 in either my BX TZI or Xantia when doing the clutch but I can't remember which and can't find where I wrote it down.

    Regards,

    Ken W
