Thats a pretty early one judging by the pics - Look at the badge placement on the bonnet and it doesnt have an airbag?

I wonder what happened to it?

I reckon it's had a front end hit ... Possibly there was fuel line/rail damage and it's burnt not long after the repair (after all look at the placement of the chevrons, they should be on the grill).

If it was half that $$$ I'd be interested in it as a parts car, however it's wwwwwaaaaayyyyyy to expensive for a parts car (unless something on your car is dead and requires replacement).

    Shane,

From what ive read and seen in pictures - the very early Xantias did have the chevrons on the bonnet - not on the grille like most Australian delivered cars

Your right Stalled they were actually late 93 models an early 94

    There were none in Aust

I had to buy a bonnet for mine and the front cut I looked at had the chevron badges on the bonnet and the grill was plain it looked yuck!
And it was from Hong Kong.

I debadged it and got it resprayed cause its exactly the same bonnet

Yep, 1993 and 1994 models in New Zealand have the chevrons on the bonnet and a slightly different grill (smaller slots) and they changed to the chevrons being in the grill around 1995.

Ok, so its an early model Xantia, that rules out Shanes suggestion for cause of fire. Any other ideas?? I don't want my Xantia spontaneously combusting just because I didn't know of a possible maintennance issue. Ours has done 8000 kilometres in the three months since getting it. Now up to 85,000 k's. A while ago there was a mention in a thread about rubber fuel lines going hard & brittle, is this a reality?
    thanks, Dom
