    Icon12 Xsara sticky clutch

I am fast becoming a Citroen enthusiast since recently purchasing an 1.8L, 16V Xsara, only one thing that annoys me and that is a clutch action that occasionally sticks especially selecting reverse and just does not feel right most of the time. The car has only done 80,000 kms. Only responce from the service people is to replace the cable. Anyone with more experience have any useful suggestions to pass on that may help? Would be appreciated. Cheers, DavidJ

    hi david j,

my daily driver is a 1.8 16v (just like yours), and the clutch started to stick at around 90 thou kays. the clutch was somewhat hesitating, where it paused 3 quarts of the way, then with a firmer push of the left foot, would take the clutch all the way down. for me it was a case of replacing the clutch cable. it is now back to the nice and firm clutch as it used to be!

Yeah, the clutch cable is the common cause for this problem. It was a problem on my Xsara 1.8. Got the cable replaced.
