Chapron built DS's had a similar dash. I do like the nice clear proper guages. Note: they are from the GS parts bin. The tacho is the same as my GS's (and has GS calibrations, no CX engine revs to 6500rpm), the speedo is also for an early car as most GTi CX's would have a higher top speed than 220km/h.

Why would you put a clock in and not a useful gauge? Very well executed though.

The speedo is also from a GS, its identical to the one from my Dad's 1974 GS Club. Same 220Km maximum, and also the same the way it rests on 10Km instead of 0.

As is the tacho as you mention, and the clock and petrol guage are also GS ones.

The light bezels apart from the large stop one also look like GS ones.

The bottom right guage I dont recognise though, it looks like a bidirectional ammeter ? Whereas the GS had a voltmeter instead.

I always did like those instruments on the RHD GS's... very nice looking and accurate compared to the crappy LHD ones my GS had...or the very tacky ones of the GSA.

It reminds me of that joke - how to turn on a woman - with all those buttons and dials to try and understand and navigate

The male version has just one switch - on/off

Yep, I tried to win an accesssorie brochure because it had those dashboards in it. I think they were used some rally CXs as well.

    P.S. Didnt get the brochure!

If the gauges are GS the tacho may be 1015 spec as it has the 6500rpm redline. 1220 gauges should have a 6250rpm redline. Not sure about 1130 or 1300 donks but suspect the 1300 same as 1220 due to bigger bore/same stroke.

Personally I'm not sure the gauges are GS although I agree they look very similar to GS kit. All the GS speedos I have out in the shed as well as the one in my car are calibrated to 200kph not 220kph. The mph one in the 1015 is calibrated to 100mph. And those indicator lights on the dash are the same size as GS ones but all the ones I've seen are plastic, these appear to have chrome/stainless bezels (shot is out of focus so it's hard to tell). Anyone know which model GS they're off of?

That dash CAN'T be from a GS. Why? if you look on the right side of the board, at the top, there is an orange light with a wavey line like a spiral.
For those of you who have ever driven a Diesel car, you would know that is for the glow plugs.
Last time I looked, they never made a diesel GS......john s

    Hi Smiffy,

it's not a GS dash. What were saying is they have used the parts bin from the GS. If you look at a RHD early GS it uses the identical guages on the some stainless look background (though obviously a different shape).

They might be late GS RHD gauges but they are not early ones...

Are you sure ?? The calibrations on them might be different, but they certainly appear to be the identical guages, in both size, shape and look

It might only be the calibrations that are different Shane, but these are definitely not the same as all the series one and two Aussie spec gauges I have, or the ones in the 1015 which was a private import from the UK. The fuel guage has different calibration markings, as does the speedo. No GS speedo I've ever seen reads to 220 (although I have never seen a birotor speedo!).

I suspect they are basically GS gauges with different calibrations on the faces (and possibly speedo drive head?) ordered as a batch. Tacho and clock may be standard GS but the photo quality is too poor to say for sure... But for the price they are asking, with a bit of sheet aluminium and some spare GS clocks it wouldn't be that hard to replicate for a fraction of the cost.

The tacho is from a GS X2 - I was reading a GS history I picked up in France tonight and there it was - exactly that, and redlined at 6500. I suspect the speedo is from a BiRotor, although I have never really looked closely at the one in Sydney. The other bits might be X2 as well.

I believe that's a frontspoiler from Arndt Tuning product. They specialised in tuning Citroens.

A man we know has a similar style front bumper on his BX 16V from Arndt.

Aah, there you go then- thanks for that Paul. Is that GS book in French then? Not much stuff about GS available in English.
