Default Are Citroens this hard too sell??

What do you make of this?? Clever marketing or plain stupidity?

    http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2805492&cur rent_rec=15&used_rec=86&total_rec=77&sort_type=&to tal_rec=77&sort_type=&make_id=11&model_id=1480&sta te_id=-1&search_distance=25

Someone should tell them the car is more like the Pug 306 anyway
What surprises me is that it isnt advertised under Citroen as well???

Its right up there with people who describe their FSM Niki's as FIATS & SEAT drivers who call them VW

    What do you think?

Sorry Carsales is a pain in the arse to do a link to. Car is under Peugeot 206 Private Sale in Vic.

    Try this..........

You are right, the 306/Xsara share mechanicals.
I doubt you could tempt anyone looking for a 206 with an ad like that anyhow. Good luck to them anyway

The NIKI is a cute little car which for a few years had the dubious honour of being Australia's cheapest car. It was built by FSM in Poland which was partly owned by FIAT. I think it was based on a FIAT 126. I still see many on the roads in WA. Cool little car but people here try to advertise them as a FIAT in a vain attempt to shift them quicker. Same way SEAT Cordoba's suddenly bceome VW Golf's, Toyota Soarers being Lexus SC400's ec etc. Yes they are similar but a car is what it is in my books & the way I see it someone looking at the car would know the similarity anyway.

Ahhhhhh, The little Fiat 126!!! I know exactly what you're on about now.
A bit like the ford festiva, we get here as the KIA pride.
Come to think of it, we get both the Mazda 121, and the Ford fiesta even though they are the same car!!

FSM? I've never heard of them, but I've heard of FSO, also of poland. They used to make a car that was based on the Fiat 125, Which I've forgotten the name of, but you might know it as a Lada Riva, from russia.

They basically are a Fiat 126. They had been making the 126 in Poland since 1975, and I think that stopped making them in Italy in 1980. The car was manufactured from 1972-2000! It shows you how modern the car was when it was sold here as the Niki.

The later model (1987-) 126's were a hatchback with water cooled engine (still rear mounted, laid over flat). Yet we got the Niki when, in 1989? And that was still with the old air cool twin.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, which ever way you look at it) they never did comes as an auto.

Can you imagine one of those cars with an automatic mated to the 2 cylinder engine? LOL.

It's too bad for Daniel though, look what he's missing out on. Something slower than an R19 automatic.

I drove a Niki once in the early 1990s. It belonged to a friend. I am sure it is the worst thing I have ever driven. For such a small car I was incredibly heavy to drive - steering, brakes etc. Even the accelerator was had to push down - and it need to be held down if any forward progress was to be made. At the time I drove a 3 cylinder Daihatsu Charade. The Niki made the Charade seem like a large and luxurious vehicle.

    cheers
