    DS Starter Motors

    Hi All

Here's a bit of good news.

Denton Christie (aka CitroŽn God) has discovered that a starter motor from a C5 will fit a DS! Don't know how he discovered it so soon, but it works.

Bonuses are that the new starter is about half the length of the old, it has rare earth magnets and drives through a gearing system. Apparently it also turns the engine a lot faster therefore easier starting.

Now the real clincher - it only costs $500! When you consider that to get an old one rebuilt is sometimes more, this is a bargain.

BTW -I take no responsibility for anyone doing anything with this advice!

$500 for a starter motor !!! must be gold plated??? Set of brushes costs about $10, bitta sandpaper to clean commentator ~20cents. Rebuild drive ~$80..... ie: re-built starter is about $100. Depends how much you decide to rebuild on it I guess.

Just paid $240 + gst for a BX19 starter. not bad I guess.

HMM, I'll check that out with some of my contact, I dont have any prices on C5 parts yet but I bet I can easily beat $500. Any idea which model C5 were talking about.
