Icon5 C5 Mobile Phone Car Kit Help

    Hi all,

I need help from you guys who are more knowledgeable than I am with the C5 and car kit.

I am thinking of installing a bluetooth car kit to my C5 (series 1). Ideally, I would like to have the car kit going to the car's speakers so that it sounds better and I can do without the car kit's speaker.

    My questions are:
    - does anyone know what sort of connector does the C5 radio has?
    - does anyone know what sort of connector do the speakers have?
    - if I disconnect the radio cable, do I need to put in a security code?

The unit I have in mind is the Sony Ericsson HCB-700 and also the HCE-16 music mute unit.

    Thank you.

    Default C5 car phone installation

I have seen quite a lot on this subject on the Yahoo C5-L site, so if you visit there you will probably get all you want to know from some who have done it.

The C5's headunit uses standard ISO connectors. To remove the headunit without the correct tool, take a wire coat hanger and cut two short lengths from it. Push the wire into the holes either side of the headunit and apply sideways pressure to then pull the unit out.

Disconnecting the unit from all power sources (there are two) may require the security code to be entered when reconnecting.

    Hi all,

Thank you all for your help.

    I have a professional installers to install Sony Ericsson HCB-700 + HCE-16 into my series 1 C5:

    - The HCE-16's ISO connectors work perfectly with the connectors on radio head unit
    - The installers need to pick up the ignition sense and switched power from somewhere else
    - The radio does not need a security as it is coded into the car (so, can't use the radio on another C5)

So, it is all good and the HCB-700 is a very nice unit with the display and I don't need to take my eyes off the road at all.
