Thats not really fair on the car though Justin. Any mentally balanced Citroen owner will tell you that if there is any fault with the car, it is either the dealers fault, or the owners fault, or maybe even the previous levels of maintenance. You can divert the fault of any problem with the car on any external factor, except for the actual car. Besides, it takes about 9 minutes to completely disassemble/reassemble the car anyway, so whats the big deal?

Yeah, so the same people that voted the Volvo V50 as the worlds most beautiful car have now picked the Citroen C6.

My french is a bit rusty but at least now I know that 'L'Automobile
piý Bella del Mondo' stands for Worlds Most Beautiful Car as judged by a bunch of old blind people that like Volvos. And Citroens.

    Mr Boga,
I think you'll find the argument was already about the reliability of other PSA models, Poogoe included.

You've got to remember there was an element of encouragement in that award

The S40/V50 were the first Volvos that weren't designed purely with a ruler

As for the C6, I think it looks like an ugly plop that's melted in the sun.

I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt and wait a few years. The C4 looks sensational on the road, moreso than in the pics. I hope that the C6 matures well as time passes.

As for Volvo, sometimes the only way is up

The current crop is excellent. Not beautiful, but rather aesthetically pleasing in a teutonic sense, if that makes any....er....sense.

So moving on from Ford's New Edge design to Bangle's Flame, we now have Citroen's Melted Plop. Good one Justin.

Ah the Bertone 262C. Even he couldn't make the 200 series look better, only different. Occasionally see one of those, in the same colour, here in south east qld.

    Arguably Volvo's nadir in design.

I might add, there's a reason behind the choice of the word "plop".

The "plop" sound reminds me of something
Now, some could say what I'm thinking in more crude terms, the C6 looks like...

Ahhh I can see the Bertone influence, the wheels are round.

Look they can even accessorise Volvo's "Brick" and "Rounded Brick" style bodies.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the looks of the C6. Looks very tame considering the concept cars and stuff that led up to it. Its almost disappointing to me actually. The interior instantly reminded me of the Renault Vel Satis. Not because they look alike, but because both cars have controversial exteriors and utterly bland interiors, nice enough though they may be.

Uga, if you think the 607 looks like an Elantra, you must not have seen a 607. I don't blame you. There is very little evidence in the marketplace that the 607 exists.

Justin still thinks the 7-Series is a crime against humanity 3 years on, so I would'nt worry about him. He's probably typing this from the rocking chair on the verandah smoking a pipe!

    Ouch!

I bet your right though, esp in Aus...

The French government will keep it alive in France, however (like 607, Vel Satis).

It's tempting to buy one... However, after spending 43k on a C4, which is now worth 27K, i'm sure the resale value of the C6 will be a killer.....

IMO at the upper end of the market, eg C6 and 607, the interiors need to be bespoke. I was really disappointed to see 407, C5 centre console items in the C6. From an economy of scale point it makes sense. But I wouldn't want the same crappy stereo from the 407, C5 in my C6.

Only a few years ago a 607 was 80k + orc. Today that same car - which most likely would have low ks is worth half. Buying a big pug/cit has to be a long term, or tax break decision.

IMO PSA isn't a big car company like Audi, BMW, Jag, Lexus, and Merc are.

Simon, I agree. But the stereo may still be better though? Head unit may be fine, they could still throw in a bigger amp, better speakers etc?

Uga, your C4 with its options would make it worth more than $27k. Easily. Besides, your not selling the car now, so it does'nt really matter does it? Unless you leased it.

607's have redbook estimated retained value of 55% or so. I think this is supported by Peugeot buying them up whenever they appear (not very often), and holding them in a shed somewhere (BMW, Mercedes, Audi do it as well). Citroen would probably do the same with the C6.

For the record, redbook for C4 is 53%.

    Tim.

The problem is with dealer discounts. Citroen dealers are starting to discount the C4 heavily (i've seen $4,000 off!), because sales have started to slow down. It's a trickle now.

Citroen better not be discounting the C6.... (The discounts in the U.K are beyond lunacy..)

They need to spend more on marketing otherwise they'll get stuck in the "Magna Discount" spiral. They also need more country dealers. Citroens are good products but they aren't exactly highly visable like pugs are.

I wonder how well the Ad campaign worked with the C4 dancing robot - it sure did get alot of airtime?
