    cheers!

i'd be inclined to think misprint too. 4.1 maybe? Andrettis Indy car used to just manage 1.5 and we have a GT-R that has a bit done to it that manages <4.5 and that's when it gets launched so methinks the 1.4 may be a bit wishful.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

They don't seem to mention whether the speed is horizontal or vertical. If it was driven off a cliff it might approach 60mph downwards pretty fast!

I'm thinking they must mount it the other way around to mount the Turbo in the front.

Point taken on the 1.4 thing It must be friday.

im not too surprised at all about that number

last i heard (2 years ago) Kenneth Hansens Euro RallyCross Xsara managed 0-96kph in 2.1 seconds. I expected times would have got crazier as the tracks have become more technical. I can hear you scoffing - but have you ever seen euro rallycross ?

Kenneth has won many times with his sophisticated 380+ KW, 720 Nm AWD space frame vehicle adorned with a carbon fibre shell. Completely different to the Xsara's we know. And when you have electronically controlled gear shifting in a car that has 6 gears to go just 175ish km/h - well i can understand....

actually 1.4 is a big jump from 2.1 seconds...

even if those crazy norwegians have engineered an AWD gearbox to survive their 1000BHP, 500Lbs-Ft V6 Metro look-a-like

I must tell them that the XU7JP/4 Is a 1.8 16v DOHC Engine, where it actually states its 2005cc which would mean its a bored out 2.0 16v DOHC engine ( possibilities are XU10J4TE *405 T16 Lump* XU10J4RS *Phase I Xsara VTS/306 GTi-6*
or a EW10J4 lump which is used in the 206 GTi's and the Late Xsara VTS and turboCharged it!.

1.4 seconds is perfectly possible, if you strap a Jet Assisted Take Off (JATO)
unit to your car! However, as with all solid rocket motors, once you start it, you can't stop it till it runs out of fuel. (make sure you have a VERY long straight road for this kind of stupidity)

PS, this has been done before, in the USA, and not surprisingly, the bloke died!! john s

A case of hitting the worng button a.k.a. A typo I pointed out in this posting and I still reckon the original poster who was online when I did it and for a while after didn't respond so I can only assume he thought I was just taking the 'iss ordidn't twig, but this was from a drivers profile:

    Xsara Oran Pk 17-18 Sept.

If it's right, he's done well for a 9 year old that lad.

"The Citroen Xsara of Kenneth Hansen has 4-wheeldrive and the engine
produces appr. 510 bhp with the 45mm restrictor.
The acceleration is fantastic, 0-100 km/h in 2,4 seconds!"

I'm guessing you didnt see the Mythbusters episode where they tested this myth out.
Murray : And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's car as he enters the swimming pool!
James Hunt: Well that should put them out then!

    Default Yes it Can

Alright - Now I have been away for a while in europe. Ken's car does in fact do 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and has done it faster with slightly different gearing. Also the JMC car is ken's old car : ) and it has recorded 0-60 in 2.4 seconds the 1.4 I would think possibly same deal as ken's faster sprints changing the gearing as Ken has done this on a drag strip for a straight line buzz..

The engine used in both is a XU7 1800cc rebored and stroked out to 2005cc..
This is the same engine used in the T4 RS1 WRC cars basically the old series 1 Xsara VTS engine.

Note the 500+ BHP is with a 45mm restrictor so the turbo is not getting what it needs air wise and will easily hit around 1000BHP.. Note you can squeeze 300BHP from a non-turbo or scharged NA TU5JP4 engine and that is only 1600cc. (the super 1600 engine is limited to 220BHP on the C2 JWRC cars to meet the rules)

    The C2 S1600 does a 0-60mph in around 4 sec not bad for a 1000Kg 1600cc car without a turbo.
