    Thanks Alan,

fabulous looking set of wheels, can't get over the impression that it's grumpy or upset in some way.

It's that big mouth(sic) that at least on the current poogoes seems to be upturned and while it looks eager and a bit threatening on the pug, upsidedown on the citroen it looks grumpy.

True that, the 'mouth' looks like a sad/angry one compared to the pug's

It also has a dynamic rear spoiler, which is at the bottom between the exhausts

It looks great, but will they ever make it?

Spaced out or maybe "I dunno what was in that cigarette; but hey....I want another!!"
It's so sensational, my bet is we'll see something similar as they seem to have put a few out now with some of the similar striking features.

The grille? my guess is it's the "mean mother" look. Might be an attempt to intimidate approaching aggresive drivers.

What is the point? Citroen executives are a BUNCH OF IDIOTS.

Look at their WRC success, they haven't capitalized on it at all... whilst Subaru, who haven't had decent success in the WRC for quite a while now, are selling millions of cars based on this platform.

Why can't Citroen release a turbo 4WD version of the C4? Capitalize on the damn RALLY SUCCESS!!!! What is the point of being in the WRC and all that success, if you don't make use of it!!

I hope it's one of those cars that reverse parks itself ... I reckon I'd have more vision out of my CX with rear headrests, blinds up, and boot spoiler than that would have

Now if only they could squeeze the V8 HDi in there

They're not allowed to. When Peugeot let them go rallying they didn't expect them to win! That's why there won't be an official Citroen team next year, just lots of "unofficial" support for Loeb. Peugeot got sooky and took the toys away... in that climate PSA will hardly be pushing a T4 Xsara on the public "Here's the car that we were cuckolded by! While stocks last!"

    Sad but true.

I haven't much of an eye for scale (or colour or anything much else if you ask my partner) but I wonder if some of those themes might be repeated in the C4 picasso which i assume is on the way? It's not like the Xsara picasso looked anything like its siblings.

Default C4 or perhaps C5 based?

    Just a tought folks,

What if the chassis base was C5 rather than C4....

Use the new fully active Hydractive with the current 2.7l V6 HDI

Car weight controlled - say a touch lower than the C5 - around 1400kg?

Now the acceleration would start looking interesting - with 440Nm of torque it should...

Then you use it as the production trial of Citroen's new Hybrid Diesel / electric - you add an additional 100Nm of torque and 40kw of power to the mix.... (balanced a touch by the additional weight of the HEV bits - total kerb weight of say 1600kg)

540Nm and 190Kw on a 1600kg car - a nice large GT at that.... what do we compare to..... Merc CLK55AMG - 1750kg, 510Nm, 270kw - acceleration should be in a similar ballpark.....

There is an opportunity for Citroen to take the lead technically as it once did with the SM - this time with an efficient Diesel/Electric set of Hot Wheels...

Whats more - unlike high reving petrol engines, the best of this engines delivery would be in the useable area - ie under our ludicrous Aussie freeway speed limits..... and perfect for a spin along the roads around the Victorian Alps.... rather than being a bahn-stormer for use on German roads where cruising at 200km++ is the norm

Although I love the idea of a V8 HDI, I am wondering whether it will squeeze into a East-West layout front wheel drive setup - Jag has it easy as their setup is North-South - but how squeezy is engine fit on a V6 C5?- would there be space for an additional 2 cylinders + ancillary bits....

And besides V6 HDI + HEV would be much more technologically leading edge than a stonking V8..... (and could potentially even be 4wd - with electric driving the rear wheels....)

    Bye for now

Default Compete with Merc C 30 AMG....

Forgot about that car - here's an indication of what can be achieved with that type of power/weight

    C30AMG - diesel engined coupe - 1640kg, 172kw, 540Nm, - 0-60mph in 6.8sec

This is indicative of what could be achieved!

You are probably closer to the mark there David. I suspect the visual impact is more favourable than the current C5. I also had the same thoughts regarding HDi V8 - one thing to fit it in Land Rover...

For some nagging reason I'm still not fully convinced by hybrids - i like the regenerative braking, just a bit iffy about a car carrying the weight of more than one engine.

I'd be more keen to see them go down that path of weight reduction but there doesn't seem to be any such trend. Not much of a seller, I s'pose

These images make for *fantastic* wallpaper. I've been using one for a few weeks now.

The car looks absolutely wonderful, and a damn sight better than the (IMHO) ungainly C6 (although different markets, obviously). Here's hoping that it a) goes into production, and b) undergoes a namechange before going into production...
