I hate looking on ebay UK - very depressing seeing all those goodies so cheap, but so very very far away....

Shane you should buy it as well as the Wagon and fill a container with other bits. Sell the bits when you get back to pay for the whole shooting match. A mate does this with Lancia Deltas.

do you think it is a prestige with what appears to be a fair amount of rear leg room?
does that gauge indicate 52 fahrenheit?
    looks very nice
I wonder what the final cost would be to land it in Sydney - if it did sell for just over 1100 gbp?
I presume the freight cost would be about equivalent to the purchase price?

The guages are in degrees C.

The left is the oil temperature, (52degrees) and the display next to that is coolant (75). I'd say they left the car idling while they took the photo's. Once it's being driven the temperature very quickly stabilise to around 80-85degrees on both guages (there is an oil to coolant oil cooler, so the oil warms quickly to coolant temperature).

I imagine that car will have a quite high reserve. If I had the $$$ and it's as good as it reads, I'd take shipping and compliance into consideration.

So if I would pay $20,000 for that car, lets roughtly say $2500 shipping, $3000 charges/compliance/gst/etc (whatever the government can think of). This means you could probably bid upto about 4000pounds for the car and probably be within budget by the time it's registered here. If your keen I'd talk to Leigh Miles and see what's involved in importation and costs (as he has just recently done this with a standard CX turbo).

Cars such as this that are so rare are very hard to put a value on. It's a high roof prestige by the looks of it. How many of the 5 of these cars built were high roofed models

    Hey,

That sure is one special car!

Just look at the legroom and those seats look so incredibly comfortable!

Are there many non-turbo LWB CX's still around?

Better be a CommonWealth buyer - as it is absolutely no fun driving a RHD in Europe mainland

I thought the low roof line (pavillon bas) on prestige was the most rare ?

It's a very nice car indeed.

But is it fair to say it's the ultimate CX??

I like it a hell of a lot, don't get me wrong, but if it had a CX25 Turbo Diesel Engine in it's prestige body then I would call it the ultimate CX. Comfort and Economy

Hey Shane, I'd buy it but those crappy black plastic seats would get too hot over here in the West...

Methinks Stuey is having a stir. They are not plastic mate, they are leather. But still they get a little warmer than fabric - hot black XM leather seats are not fun in summer.

My reollection is that the low roofline Prestige is the rarest because they were made for a short time before the roof was raised, i agree with you Anders.

There is a reprint in the latest CCCV newsletter of a road test from Classic and Sportscar magazine on what must be the car on ebay. The article finds little fault with the car, and quotes and asking price of 6995 pounds.

The article says that only 5 were sold in the UK, and this is the only one known to to the Citroen Car Club.

By the time the sereis 2 Prestige were ready for sale - the CX had almost totally lost any public attraction in the UK.
I believe this special 5ea. series was an attempt to repair the Citroen CX image in UK - as a hi-end car.

The Classic and Sportscar magazine article refers to the "mammoth origional price" of the Prestige Turbo.

I can't find a list price, but in 1985 the CX was listed from 8,367, and an ordinary Prestige was 50% more than the standard car, so a Prestige turbo would be even more. Given two years inflation and the Turbo motor, the Turbo would have been 15,000, about the same price as a Jaguar XJ6 or Porsche 944 or BMW 7 series.
