    "Déesse" Roland Barthes, 'Mythologies', 1957

The Déesse has all the characteristics of one of those objects fallen from another universe that fed the mania for novelty in the eighteenth century and a similar mania expressed by modern science fiction: the Déesse is first and foremost the new Nautilus.

The man without a face is a movie with a ds that starts without touching the wand.

House of Secrets 1956 features some quite long shots of mostly black Tractions running around Paris. It used to run late on the ABC every so often. Can't find any relevant images from it.

"Driving Lessons" from 2006 had a lovely late Safari in it, with BVH. There is a scene in it obviously done with the car on a filming trailer where they are apparently zooming along a country road in what would have to be 3rd if not 4th gear and the gearstick is vertical. Bzzzzt.

Sadly the Safari in the movie was stolen a few years ago and I think has not been seen since.

That is a great movie, and if I recall correctly features not one but two cream coloured Tractions.

Pity that the interior travelling shots are done with the car on a trailer and flat. Note the jiggling of the passengers. Sacre bleu!

The Green Berets, with John Wayne etc. Leaving the politics and all out of it, a DS features big time in the last reel. Unspeakable things are done to it too. Ah, the horror! The horror!

Not a movie but an hour long show, I think it's a series. Monty Don's French Gardens on the ABC at 6pm today. Nice light blue 2CV. Seen at the beginning of the show as he was handed the keys to use it as his set of wheels. Never saw that one again but there were many moderns. Also, I am sure I didn't see any cars other than European.

There is a film called shock treatment starring Alain Delon made in 1973. It has an amusing scene in it. A group of french people frolic in the sea naked and after getting dressed drive to a restauant in an SM. After they arrive back at the retreat at least five adults leap out of it. Maybe it was one of these tardis SMs. There are a couple of shots of a DS and a nice fiat 124 spider pops up regularly. It is also not a bad film, a bit dated and not as cool as some of his others but worth a look. Got it from my local library in the french section - an Alain Delon colection of DVDs.
    cheers Tony
