There is no way in the world that is a '76 25 GTi

In '76 they were a 2200 carby motor and didn't have wide track. Most CXs up to '77 were also manual steering. The first "GT" came out in I think it was '77 and the GTi about 78/79 (a la' Rally of Sennegal cars)
My guess is an 85 model and whilst it appears in good nick isn't as rare as this tyre kicker is painting it.
I would have thought Ian Greens maroon one that sold recently for $11500 would have been as good if not better and as a bonus, it had the wheel on the correct side too.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

I agree with Alan on the date. It's definitely a series 1 version 2 as it has the radio horizontal in the dash.

But boy, those descriptions! Did anyone else hear the frantic tugging sounds?

    I quote:

Delightful touches included the one spoke steering wheel. I can't think of any other car that has ever had this feature .

Um... DS, GS, BX, XM (S1), SM. But then it is a septic and perhaps should have just said "I can't think."

The car looks very nice and sounds genuine enough and I reckon it will find a buyer in the US. Good luck to 'em.

Yep. series 1, '85 vintage would be my call.

Don't knock it though, if it is as original as per it's description, it would now be quite rare and collectable. I've never seen one with a factory electric sunroof, and that interior does look mint, by comparison european cars would be rust buckets and our aussie cars have been destroyed by sun damage.

Shame about the passenger having to drive it though

    Cheers

Notice that the chrome in/on the stainless steel bumpers is perfect condition.

I suspect it is like a few local 2CVs I know of - if it's a '76 model then you don't have to jump through as many hoops to get it registered - particularly in California where they are very strict about emissions testing of post 1980 cars - and they wouldn't know the difference between a 1976 and a 1985 model would they?

Hi Chris, I reckon it looks more like an 86 model...they are possibly just one decade out. Looks very nice, worth the money...but I'd prefer a RHD version.

    Hi Guys
Alan I still have my CX25GTi and while it is still advertised on www.carsales.com.au I am seriously considering keeping it. It is just such a delightful car to drive.
