Different is one way to describe it. It might look better in the flesh. Does it look smaller then the current car?

Yes I saw those pics while I was sitting in the Business Class lounge at CDG last week (was it really only that short a time ago - sob sob...)

The pics shown are actually the next next C5. There is a revamp coming out in October or so that is a rehash of the current body etc. The shots shown are the 2007 version and according to some are reminiscent of the DS - yeah like a C3 is like a 2CV.

Anyway, it looks a lot better than the current model!!

Not so sure about that - it is only an impression, but looks to me like a Toyota Echo Sedan that's had a serious course of steroids

I hope it stays an impression. It doesn't look right at all.

Yes Dino, the C4 Sport does look good. Can't wait for the release of the production version.

....May issue of MOTOR has a pic (or two) of the C4...page 31....ahhh what the hell...I ll retype the whole article for you guys....here goes...:

(hope this isn t in breach of copyright...anyway....to compensate...go out and buy a copy of MOTOR... )

Ignore the pseudo-rally bolt-ons and this head-turning C4 Sport concept is Citroen's production-ready C4. Minus decals, it will arrive this autumn to put the Xsara out of its misery, ultimately usurping it in the WRC too.

The three- and five-door models share Peugeot's 307 platform, but each has distinctive styling. The three-door version has a more rakish roofline and a near-vertical Kamm tail, while the five-door will be marked out by its higher roof and rear three-quarter window.

Both will wear the show car's L-shaped headlamps, high-mounted triangular tail-lights and distinctive double-chevron grille. This look will be grafted onto the C5.

Inside, drivers will face a centrally mounted instrument binnacle and a steering wheel with central boss that remains still during cornering. There will be plenty of room inside: the concept's length and wheelbase exceed the new Golf's, although it stands lower.

Expect Citroen's usual line-up of four-pot petrol engines, including a 180bhp VTS model, as well as PSA/Ford 1.6 2.0 turbo diesels.

    # NEED TO KNOW:

    PRICE: 10,000 - 15,000 UK (british mag)
    ENGINES: 1.4, 1.6, and 2.0 petrols;
    1.6 and 2.0 diesels.
TRANSMISSIONS: 5speed manual, 4 speed auto, sensodrive clutchless manual.
    ONSALE IN THE UK: Autumn.

    cheers

not as a drawback or anything but the rear end of that C4 reminds me of a late 80's early 90's honda (EDIT: CRX, i couldn't think of the exact model at the time), allthough i think overall the new c4 is pretty cool

Hey! Who cut the belly out of the C5?
Looks like a concept car/"could be real car/we're thinking about it" more than anything else

The C4 Sport mentioned above looks like a Honda CRX re-make IMO

That C5 will have to grow on me though.

Thanks for the great photos of the C4. What an Awesome Beast !!!!! I am seriously thinking about purchasing one when it finally arrives in Aus. The rear has some simularlity to a Honda CR-X , but C4 seems to be taller and less rounded. It has Heaps more style and charisma. Apparently the centre steering wheel boss is fixed, with only the rim that rotates (like in the photo of C5, Harrison posted) this allows more user friendly controls at your fingertips.

    Cheers Pete

i'm sorry but i hope those shots are a very inaccurate guess. the front reminds me more of the new beetle than any citroen.

the update to the current C5 that was posted here earlier was far more appealing to me - it shared the C4/C6 type nose.

those shots look a little bit like someone playing around with a picture of the current C5 on their PC...i think Citroen's recent styling efforts have been a little better than that and I'm sure the next C5 will be also.

mind you i take my opinion with a grain of salt as the current C5 has quite grown on me and i like it now (esp in dark colours)

I agree, i hope the C4 gets at least the 2L 16V engine with >160hp.
A C4 with 180hp would be rather sweet. I hope the weight of these cars isn't too much.

My pearls of wisdom (more like glass beads!) ...............

The 'slim-tone' line of the profile for this new look C5 was instantly eye catching. The rest of it will become more normal for production. Don't fret - Citroen isn't about to "DS" or "SM" themselves again in a hurry.

The C4 (in its red suit) has a very cumbersome looking 'chin' - but that may just be part of the 'sport' additions.
