Are these the same as 405 ignition barrels as I have one with key and matching door locks.

If it's any help, they are made by "Simplex" and I know from bitter experience there are at least 2 types; possibly 3.
From memory I think the problem was the number of wires coming from the back end. I replaced one many moons ago & it was a drama trying to get the correct one. I did come to the conclusion that at a pinch it was possible to make one up out of ywo by splitting at the point where the mechanicals and electricals meet but a correct switch turned up before I reached that pont of desperation.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

As AlanS - I've had a few time wasters on this

1.) NO - it's not the same as found in the 405's - or other Peug's for that matter. but MAY be the same as found in other Citroens same production years - EXCEPT the CX model range - which has it's own very unique ignition key barrel.

2.) The plastic bits (contact set) is available separate as spare from aftermarket suppliers - your local Cit dealer may offer the service of finding a source for this.
Known as the 2x4pin connector halfmoon contactset
With barrel out it's a very easy replacement job.

3.) If you find a new (or s/h) complete ignition key barrell - which fits the hole exactly but not the wiring - then it's a minor problem converting any wiring differences - as the BX electrics are very well documented on the web.
