    Default 2004 Xsara VTR

    Hi,

I'm looking at buying a 2004 Xsara VTR as my first car and I came across your site googleing and it seems like a good place to ask a few questions.

Does anyone have any photos of the interior of the 2004 model?

Does it still have the chrome finish?

How much would I be looking at for lexus style rear lights and a bodykit? I emailed pugaction.com but no response as of yet...

rear tail lights will be about 500 i imported them for my old Xsara

body kit, anwhere form $2000- $4000. not alot of stuff here for them, and most of the places that can import them for you are robbers. there are alot of threads about this for the xsara, maybe worth having a search through the citroen pages and finding some info on them.

looking at a VTR or VTS?

    VTR, the cheaper one

Can you buy a bodykit directly from Citroen?

The lights are in my budget, probably not $2k+ for a bodykit though...

I don't have any Photo's but I have seen the 2004 interior. The cloth trim is improved over the older (early 2003 and before), with dark grey and blue cloth seats. It's has bits of chrome here and there, on the vent controls, the handbrake button, the gear knob.

Allpikes had a silver 2004 model VTR in the showroom. You should go down and check it out.

I was about to say gee, I wish I could have been able to afford a brand new car for my first car, but looking at http://www.citroen.com.au/layout.asp...=article&ID=42 isn't the Xsara VTR a bargain at $19 990! Wow! I still wouldn't have been able to afford $20+ k for my first car - my budget was more like $2000 which I stretched up to $2400

Good luck with it - they are a great fun car

Dont worry, I worked hard for that money

I could either spend $15k on a second hand coupe, spend $20k on a pulsar or something or spend $20k on a stylish Citroen.

And, the value of the Xsara VTR wont decrease overly, because of its recent price drop I can still used ones being sold for more than the new price of a new one!

How long does it take to get one? I really need to get it before the end of the financial year...

Go with the Citroen.. You won't regret it. The best cars i've ever driven have been Citroens and i'll never change.

Go for a test drive in the pulsar then the Citroen, you will see a huge difference. Japanese cars feel like tin boxes compared to the solid Xsara's. I went for a drive in a friends Mazda 6... horrible. For the amount he paid, its not worth half the amount of my Xsara.

    Tin box crap.

I love the handling, can take it around corners without any problems, and can hardly feel the road underneath you....

I am most probably getting a bodykit imported from the UK for close to $2000 after shipping, insurance and customs. The factory kit is around $2300 fitted and painted if I recall....

this is the kit I am getting including the rear wing

go here if you are willing to import...

i dont know anyone specific in sydney, althoughi have a mate down there that gets Jetspeed to do abit of work for them, they are happy with that. Any reputable bodyshop should be able to paint and fit a kit. although i would probably go towards a bodykit specialist like jetspeed etc

I've never seen a VTR (only seen a sedan model) in real life yet (I'll be going to Allpikes this week/weekend)...

While I've seen photos, they are really the same as seeing it in RL.

Some of the photos I've seen make it look like a 2 door Hyundai Accent, is the respembance there in RL?

Your best bet is Southern Citroen at the moment to be honest. They are new kids on the block & will work harder for your dollar. They have a black VTR & would be a bit more negotiable & professional. My honest opinion is that if you were going to do any mods at all over say 2 or 3k that you may as well buy a VTS. The extra you pay seems to be well justified. There are always a few for sale in the East if your that game. Good luck with the Xsara anyway.

How long does it take to get in a VTR if its not at the dealers?

Who would be better to take trade-ins (1998 Hyundai Lantra)

Not sure how long it would take to get in but Southerns have an advantage by being part of the Barbagallo group which means they can get rid of a cheaper trade in a lot easier & thus will probably offer a bit more for it. If you are not in a huge hurry you should order the car & in the meantime sell the Lantra (or shoot it! ) privately & get more money. If there are cars in Oz avail I wouldnt expect to wait more than 30 days for it. Have you had a look at the C2 yet at all?

    Yeah I have...

    The C2 looks awesome inside...

but I'm after more of a 'coupe' look and the C2 is a bit over my price range.

    Default Citroen Xsara

    Hi

I have Xsara and also have the misfortune to drive a Nissan on one of the conreacts we do.

Yes take one for a drive and then a Citroen and you will see and feel the differance.

The Citroen is in a differant league and for the present price a much safer and better equiped vehicle.

The Xsara prices are really good value....

A bit off topic, but is the current model Xsara still based on the 306 floor pan? Or is it the 307 now?

Still the 306 / and the predecessor to both of them, the Citroen ZX.

The Xsara replacement, the C4 would be based on a new platform (presumably the 307 one?). PUG307'll know.

The base model's excellent value then at $19990. I never realised they were that cheap.

They should advertise the fact a bit more- it compares very favourably against the Korean cars (eg Elantra) when you take into account the standard equipment levels.
