I use a PC laptop but just checked both the official AF app and Tapatalk app and both work fine on an old iPad I have here.
What issues are you having, I note your post is via the Tapatalk app.

Apps need updating (by the developer). Perhaps no one wanted to update it?

What are the benefits of using the app over, say the Safari version on a phone, or Tapatalk?

I previously posted the problems with the search system, has never been fixed by the system organiser as far as I can tell. It really must be fixed, having a system that does not work easily is very poor form & will put off new people especially, they will just leave a group with such poor organisational infrastructure & never return, nor will they recommend the site to others.

You've asked the same question several times and had the same answer by several members including myself.
The search function works well and is quite accurate with the correct search terms. . .

Forget the search via the drop down menu, it's broke and has been for a decade with no easy fix.

Instead use the google search at the top of the page i.e.

Enter your search terms into the search google box and press enter.

Edit: using your username as search term gives 88 results in a few seconds. . .

I disagree about the Forum search. I use the Advanced Search function in the Nav Panel, as it allows me to fine tune the search (eg choose a particular poster or thread starter as well as a keyword. I choose "Search Single Content Type" (Multiple is the default), and have reasonable success.

HOWEVER, it has blind spots. For example, it will happily return results if I search for 'Xantia', but return nothing if I search for 'XM' .

It's not only on AF that Google may work better than the builtin search tool - I used to find what I wanted on Microsoft's Tech Support site far more quickly using Google than Microsoft's own search tool.

    Cheers

That's interesting Alec, I gave up using the forum search from the drop down menu because it was too frustrating - I do know that simply searching XM, CX, BX etc. would yield no results as it deems the search term too short.

My memory is that a 3-letter word was the minimum length you could search for via the drop-down thingo, unless the administrators specified particular 2-letter words that could be searched. I recall a discussion where we suggested 2-letters words we would like to be able to search for, including many Citroen model names. That functionality might have been lost in one of the upheavals along the way.

I'm not complaining: I get more than I pay for here!
