Default Subaru ad claims wrc 2003

Saw this ad on tv today where SUBARU claims world rally championship for 2003.

That's not what I was led to believe. Isn't CITROEN wrc champion for 2003?

That calls for class action surely!

Well yes and no. Citroen won the manufacturers championship...but the driver who won the "Drivers Championship" was driving a Subaru.

Mark's correct; it's the way they have worded the ad.

"Petter Solberg, driving a Subaru wins the 2003 WRC" and go on to effectively claim that the car as much as the driver was the winner. I think they may have a small (too small to read) disclaimer regarding the manufacturers title or the fact it is only the drivers title they are referring to.

Wonder why they don't go into any detail as to why Tommi Makinnan never did any good in a Suby though?

Not to forget the obvious thing - Subaru get to wear the number 1 plate on the doors for the year. That certainly looks better in the advertising brochures!
Murray : And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's car as he enters the swimming pool!
James Hunt: Well that should put them out then!

    Default ad was changed

in perth the ad is different may have something to do with someone complaining of the misleading advert hehehehe. it now says the 2003 wrc drivers champion.... i was upset when it first came out given that citroen always was in the lead. note this year suburu should be upset as we are leading the drivers and manufacturers board hehehehehehe the way it should be no jap crap ...

TOO RIGHT, Jap is Crap. Once you drive a Citroen it changes all your values towards driving and you never look back. Lets hope Citroen takes advantage of its good fortune and starts telling Aussies about what they're missing.

    Cheers Pete

Here in England, citroŽn uk, have a very good record on advertising. They are imaginitive, sometimes funny, and just recently, nostalgic! When the C3 pluriel was launched, the tv ad featured a lovely white DS!! john s

Probably because Citroen is very profitable, and an effective advertising campaign in Australia just isn't justified. They do advertise the C5 every once in a while.

When's the last time you saw an ad for a Peugeot on TV, and look how successful they are with the 206 and 307.

Leave the volumes to the big 3, make money in the niche market.
