Default Cx engine rebuild, parts supply.

    Hello everyone.

I'm new to citroen ownership, and have a cx that I'm rebuilding. I'm not very internet savvy so I'm having a little trouble locating parts locally.

How do you guys go about locating parts like engine kits?

It's a 76 2200 pallas, I'm in Logan QLD Aus, any help appreciated.

    Cheers, Andrew.

CX Basis is the best source however you should give them a while to recover from the loss of the owner Jochen Heusel who unfortunately and sadly passed away unexpectedly at the weekend from a stroke. It is with great sadness that I relay this message as I found Jochen to be very helpful and knowledgeable during the course of my CX rebuild.
    Cheers Gerry

Yes, CX Basis is first port of call - CX-Basis - Shop, Fahrzeuge und Werkstatt fr Citroen CX - CX-Basis - Der Spezialist fr Citroen CX (select English at the drop down at the top of the page and you'll be set).

We'd all be happy to see some photos of your project Andrew and don't be afraid to ask to hints / tips / help. There are many very knowledgeable and experienced folk on here who have helped me many times. Good luck.

    Hello Peter,
Thank you for the link, I will look at it this evening. I actually seen it come up on Google but got scared off by the different language so I'm glad it can be set to English 😀.

I'd be glad to put up some pictures as I build it, cheers mate.

What parts are you after Andrew? Some of the locals and members here might have a few parts for a CX22. I'm fairly sure some of the Sydney local repairers like Jason Hantos and Denton Christie would have a few NOS CX parts they might sell. Franzose.de and CTAServices.nl will also carry a few CX parts, but CX-Basis are clearly the online specialist now. You can also try Andre Pol via https://citroen-andre.com/.
Some engine parts will be shared with DS21.

    Hi David.

My initial problem was a blown head gasket, to which I then found it seized too. I've got it freed up and have honed the offending liner, so as a minimum I need head gasket and liner gaskets. I thought while it's apart though I should probably do rings and bearings, and probably a water pump to be sure.

Do you have the parts books and manuals for the CX? You can download in pdf here:
    https://sites.google.com/site/citroenpublicationslist/
If you scroll down to the heading 'CX', it links to a page with just the CX documents. Yu will want 74-79, but maybe also some others as it can be handy to know if a part was or wasn't used on later models.
The CX bottom end is very robust, so you may find the crank and bearings are OK to refit.
Have a good look at the cam followers because the case hardening tends to break up.

I have a Haynes manual, but that's it so cheers for that link, I will be sure to download some documents.
I've read of the durability of the bottom end, and mine seems like it should be pretty healthy otherwise, I have yet to pull the caps off though.

I checked out cx basis, that site is great.

Ian Steel of Just Cits at the sunshine coast probably has what you need as well as second hand parts .
