Default Brisbane - tyre fitting and balancing

My local tyre outfit can't balance my tyres as Dee rims don't have a large central hole to fit on their balancing machine.

How do Dee (and other older cars) folk get new tyres balanced? Is there anyone in Brisbane who knows where I get tyres balanced?

Yeah there was a write up on centreless rim balancing getting hard to find now as tyre dealers have updated their machines and not purchased the additional $1200 adapter.

I have been told by the Nambour Bob Jane's that check with your local BJ in Brisbane as most did not update due to initial cost of uograde.

    Call around 1st

Let everyone know when you find one

    Default On vehicle balancing?

Mate, maybe go the other way and get the balancing done on the vehicle. This removes the issue with finding a tyre shop with an adapter but also means that the balancing job takes into account the hub etc...although not the brake rotors in your case I guess

I had my old ID21 wheels balanced on the vehicle but the hubs scraped on something maybe the balancing unit
So I if you do this do it with the motor running so it is at the correct height.

Not many folk do on-car balancing either. If all else fails, one can always get a wheelwright to cut a hole (which will not weaken the wheel in any significant ways).

    cheers! Peter

I think JAX Quickfit tyres at Bowen Hills can do it but it takes some time for them to fit and set up the adaptor to their machine and they might charge you a bit extra for the inconvenience.

Ken they will charge additional $50 so do Goodyear in Bowen Hills.
As I found out last time we bought tyres but couldn't balance without being charged. All due to big name distributors upgrading their machines and not purchasing the adapter. .bugger

There was a thread on this some time ago. Can't find it on Aussiefrogs search, but goggled it:
