Default C5 X7 complete key replacement (blade, shell, electronics)

I am not having very much luck with my Citroen's keys of late. I am somewhat fussy about not losing keys but someone who shall remain nameless in my household isn't quite as assiduous. Well it can happen to any of us I suppose.

So one of the two keys for my car has been lost. I want to replace it. The key that was lost is the better one of the two - the remaining key has worn through the rubber button covers on the shell and the key blade 'stick's and has to be prised out of the shell. It will be a candidate for a replacement shell soon. I want to get a spare key before I do that, in case my luck goes further downhill.

Go to a Citroen dealer for a new key you say. I will do that, but I will be surprised if it doesn't cost more than $500 for a replacement chez Citroen. I hope to spend less than that.

Has anyone replaced their C5 X7 key using an alternative supply source? I once found a UK website that would supply a complete key, only needed a locksmith to cut the blade and set up the electronics to match your car.

What year/model of C5 are you needing the keys for? My 2011 C5 X7 sedan keys are different to my 2016 C5 X7 wagon.

    Take a look at polmex.com.au.
The Citroen X7 key fob is not listed, but it is the same as the Peugeot 3 button fob.
Easy replacement for the button cover.

Also, you can buy complete keys with transponder chip from Alibaba.
I bought a couple, they arrived the other day.
Quality appears good, but I haven't had them cut or programmed as yet.

The 407 key is not the same as the c5 one the blade is different you need to get a wide blade with the lights on centre button unless you have a late wagon if you get cheapies from China land some times you need to change the signal type in the bsi and thus need too replace both keys at the same time. Iíve had plenty of upset customers that canít understand why their cheap key is going to kill their old ones.

The only complete keys I can see on Alibaba have the battery housed in the shell half. Mine is fitted on the transponder board itself.
As an aside, the other day I had a closer look at the key blade I had cut (on a new China key shell, with the intention of using the original Citroen transponder board) and the grooves on the sides were cut longer down the shank than the original. I wonder if that's why the key wouldn't turn in the ignition (but did in the door).
I'll have to dig deeper on this during the week. In the meantime just hope that somehow the original key turns up, even though we've looked everywhere. I was going to tag the keys before going away for work but ran out of time. A problem when you need to move one of two same model cars in a hurry and just grab the 4 identical keys to work out which opens what...

When coding if the remote doesnít work you will need to go into bsi and change the MHz of the remote

The link you gave above just opened the home page but I pasted in the description you gave above and it offered up a page with the key like mine... I think. Thanks for that, I was searching page after page but couldn't find the board with battery as above.
