Icon4 C4 Grand Picasso 2010 make-Radiator Fan continuously running fault...

    Hi all,

My C4 almost overnight has developed a fault where the radiator fan doesn't stop until it drains the battery.
    Fan control unit?

about $150.00 from Citroen Australia, unfortunately 3 week back order, so I am hoping to get it sorted sooner.

I see its very easy to access (10 minute job to remove).

    Any ideas or suggestions?

The wife is ready to throw in the towel, not me, we bought it new and it's done 127,000km, however trade in value of about 6-8k at best and privately perhaps 10k... it's 'worth' more than that to me.

It could be possibly a fan module but also could be a temp sensor I assume itís a diesel normally when the modules fail it wonít work on low speed

I also suspect the external temp sensor in front of the radiator. Our ex C4 had the same problem and it would also bring up engine overheat STOP when in stop/start traffic on a warm day. Once moving the temp gauge would be reading normal.

Call EAI - either Melbourne or Sydney but you MUST have your VIN to proceed.

    Hi all,

Got it sorted, fan control unit (I kinda knew as mentioned), got lucky and was able to find the only Citroen C4 (2006 not 2010) being 'wrecked' in Melbourne (pickapart Campbellfield), $8.00 later plus 2 and 2 so $12.00 as I had to pay $2 entry for me and $2 for my brother. Funny how it turns out, I got it off a Peugeot! same part # and so far it's working.

I also need the electronic handbrake, unfortunately all the Citroens (about 3) are older than mine so no electronic hand brake!.

    Thanks to all the replies.

    Merci, Merci. Muchas Gracias.

Here's something on youtube about the Fan Control Unit Issue(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNkRnaeyr04).
