ID hubcap there. DSpecial and non-Pallas DS wore full-sized hubcaps as did Pallas DS. However, Pallas has a raised section in the middle with sharp creases.

Are they interchangeable.? Apart from the "factory genuine" or "correct" aspect of course.

I rarely put my anorak on, but ten years ago I had a 1974 D Special that had been personally imported from the UK, with the smaller hubcaps. I was told that the extent of DS “features” on D Specials, especially from around 1972, depended on the market. So UK cars had the smaller hubcaps, whilst Australian cars had the larger.

the smaller caps are similar or the same as GS caps, my 74 DSpťcial is currently wearing GS caps. Haven't finished polishing the big ones yet! The small ones don't fall off either.

tried editing reply but this site has gone mad? A D wheel at least last version has two holes that allow fitting the smaller hubcaps. The small hubcaps have two spring metal leafs that press into the holes. Same for removal as a bigger one just get your wheel changing thing out and prise off the cap.

I note the anorak, I just like the simplicity of the English ID cap. In fact Iíd go so far as to say the general aesthetics of the d special are a little nicer than the pallas - imho.

Having said all that - if I was going to an anorak get together - I may pop on the Pallas caps to keep cover on my strange predilection

The " English cars" bizo is more to do with IDs being the lower spec cars and the ID which transformed into DSpťcials had the small hubcaps and possibly the larger as option that would have then become standard late in the game. Nothing to do with being English spec as such.

according to dsidclubdefrance net site small hubcaps introduced in 58/59 for ID's then ID's becoming DSpťcials in 1970 same hubcaps but when the big hubcaps were stock is not mentioned. I can't edit any of my posts these days as the page goes haywire. OS issue? dunno.

You will also find Australian delivered D Specials often have swivel driving lights - I've had three with swivel driving lights. Just one of the little extra features that were added depending on the market.

I didn’t know there were D Specials without turning headlights. Well there you go...

I've had lively discussions with Europeans about Aussie delivered D Specs having turning lights. Some are also insistent that Specials ONLY came with pedal brakes or even no power steering.

Yes , the Aussie DSpecials came with swivel lights, mushroom pedal and power steering. Some people in other markets refuse to accept that fact.

Swivel AND self-levelling lights as a package.
Heated rear window - Was that standard elsewhere?

Isn't there some difference between the ID and GS small hubcaps? Was it the presence or absence of the little pip in the middle?
