Default C5 Mk1 knock knock noise

Well finally got around to replacing tge right top engine mount as it had perished and was causing the usual knock knocking noise on take off and slowing down.
    An easy 15min job.
    Old one was stuffed

But went for a quick drive around the block to find another knocking noise even when not moving.

The lower under engine one seems ok?

    Any ideas

No movement but very alloy sounding same as the top mount.

Let me check all the mounts again.

Don't think the gearbix mount as I would have noticed it when pulling the AL4 out 1/2 dozen times.
How do these mounts wear, does the rubber shrink as there are no obvious cracks.
At 230km on the clock I'd expect obvious wear.?

I've just recently done my 3 C5s (years- 1 x 2004 - RHZ, 2 x 2007 - RHR, 4HS) mounts. Basically the 'dogbone' as shown in original post bolts to the alloy engine mount bracket which sits on what I call the rubber 'blob' which is bolted to the chassis rail. The blob collapses over time and only when compared with a new blob is it obvious that it is cactus - apart from some liquid dribble underneath the blob which kinda reminds me of a punctured canetoad. Replacing these mounts (driver side only) fixed low speed vibrations on de-acceleration. And also on the 2004 car a smoother experience from the AL4. Still need to do gbox side but it looks like a pia. Unable to do gearbox side for the 2007 cars as the mounts are NLA,not even third party now.
Also don't forget the rear mount, driveshaft needs to be removed.

Thanks all especially Davec I will be checking this mount in the weekend. Strangely enought our 2002 has not had mount issues and it sits on the hot sun. While Carlo5 the 2004 higher kms has had more issues 1st. I'm guessing it all rested on the previous owners maintenance schedule. 2002 Red Devil just keeps going no turbo pressure 80% of the time but Chris kept it maintained. 2004 Carlo5 lived 400km from Brisbane where it had a yearly service so may have missed a few over the years😑

Found the problem lower engine mount was starting to loosen off at the chassis engine. Access a bit tight to get torqued but all good now.
Wife won't know how its so much quieter. 😁
