Default C5 tyre and wheel sizes

Can any aficionado or cognoscente explain something that has been puzzling me for a while.

I have a 2010 C5 sedan HDi Comfort (RHH). I got it from a dealer in Melbourne 3 years ago. The wheels are the 17 inch "Baltique" type. The tyres on it are 225/55-17.

Any and all brochures and doco, for this year model, from an online Australian brochure, to Carsguide, to Redbook, to JAX, says that the tyre size is 225/60-17.

Are mine the wrong size? May a previous owner have changed them? At 55 profile, circumference is 84" with 754 revs per mile. At 60 profile, circ is 86.8" with 730 rpm.

The speedo is very accurate, out by 2kmh (even at 180) when tyres are new, to 3-4kmh when worn. Logically, the bigger profile would throw this out significantly, which suggests that the 55 is correct for this gearing.

    Interested to find out more.

55 is normal on the 17 inch wheels. Here is a UK brochure from 2012 that shows the range of wheels and tyres available there. We had a smaller choice here

Some of the later brochures/spec sheets quote 60 series.

I believe the brochure was incorrect. The tyres werealways 55 profile AFAIK.

Go to serviceCitroen armed with your car's VIN and the truth will be told. Full details of the build of the vehicle are available.

Or else put the VIN here and one of us with access to ServiceCitroen will find it for you.

There should be a sticker on the door pillar that will have the correct tyre size and recommended pressures for the wheels the car was originally supplied with.

    Cheers, Ken

Definitely 225/55/17 for your car. I had the same.

Lucky you. In 225/55-17, there are some very good tyres. I'd be inclined to fit the RE003 given the excellent deal currently offered.

    cheers! Peter
