Default 1949 Light 15 - engraved initials on back of chrome work

I've just had the front grille on my 1949 Slough built Light 15 re-chromed and was interested to find on the back of the grille and both chevrons, the initials LR engraved on each piece. A small memento/reminder of the man who made them or something else? Anybody else had the same experience?

Perhaps they have been re-chromed before and these are markings to ensure that the parts do not get lost or mixed up with another job. My chrome plater used to engrave but now he just photographs the items in a job lot for reference.

You might be on the money. Who in the past or present has the initials LR ???? - - who might have owned this car.

Maybe Louis Renault was getting a bit of overtime there on week ends?.....And learning how to properly build a car!

But seriousilly, this mark has been made with an electric engraver. Not sure whether they had those in 1949. I would have thought engraving was still done by hand then. Could it be a much younger recent replacement part from Der Franzose?

Thank you all. Given the cost of re-chroming, I don't think I'll be looking for any more initials on my car!
