    Default 2CV Starter Motor

Sad to report the one on my Dolly has packed up, I think those difficult hot starts on the way home from Dalby did it! On removal I discover that it is nameless .However it is quite a simple thing so I soon discovered that the brushes are worn out, the dimensions of the Brushes reveal that it is an ISKRA (2CV Shop}.These are available however they are spot welded on which looks a bit tricky. Alternatively I could get a new one, Der Franzose looks like the best deal. All advise welcome.

If I was doing this repair, I would be removing the old brush and its tail.

Clean up the area with some fine emery, apply some bakers flux and tin with soft solder. Would then tin about 10mm of the brush tail and then solder the two together.

Holding the tail of the brush with a pair of long nose pliers where the tinning stops will stop the heat travelling down the brush tail and sucking the solder down the tail.

You will need a decent sized soldering iron like the old style Berko's

Random question Brian. Did you buy your Dolly from a guy in Norman Park about 15 years ago ?
