Default DS Hydraulic gearshift - Centrifugal Regulator

    Greetings,

I am having an issue with a hydraulic gearbox..
We changed over the Centrifugal Regulator for an overhauled one from Franzose.
The reason for doing this was that the old Regulator was leaking back to the reservoir when the box was in neutral. This resulted in the pump cutting in VERY regularly... ( checked the steering - not a problem)

The replacement is feeding back to the tank as much, if not more than the old unit. ( and the pump coming in even more).
Can anyone advise me about this?
It seems to me that at idle, in neutral, there should be no return to the tank. Is this correct?
At higher revs, the flow diminishes, but certainly doesn't stop...

    Hi Stuart,
Most vendors sell a resealed unit - which does not address leakage past the slide valve.
Citrotech are the only ones I'm aware of that re-bore and replace the slide valve so they are as good as new.
If it is the slide valve that is leaking (and it sounds like it) then the only option is return it and request a refund.
I'd then get a rebuilt unit from Citrotech.
    Cheers,

Indeed, I'm certain that the spool valve is leaking - badly.
I was a bit surprised at the price from Franzose - quite cheap.... but then, if you are only replacing the bearing and seal plate o-rings, it IS cheap.
    Send it back ! Bugga!

    Thanks

Unfortunately, Citrotech is currently out of stock on all rebuilt centrifugal regulators..... :-(
