    Default Sense of Disproportion

When my CX was parked on the street, it was remarkable just how small and low it looked (compared, even to a Mini). This pic in "Driven to Write" does the same .... shows us how the SUV has dwarfed what we might consider "family sized" cars (no, not the SM), but say, a GS or a CX. Bonnet lines that sit about mid-door on today's family cars, and even the smaller models.

    Striking picture, isn't it!

Just compare the CX (formerly referred to as a 'big Citroen") against a current Toyota Corolla! I set ours up against a colleagues Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera a few years ago when by chance we made our simultaneous purchases ($4500 vs $35000 respectively) and the Porsche was seemingly only about 75 mm shorter than the CX. I was amazed. I'm still amazed! The Porsche was much larger than I realized.

If I recall correctly, the current 'Mini', inaccurately named if anything was, has about the same wheelbase as a series 1 Range Rover. Mini? Really?

    Cheers
