Default Abandoned CX Prestige (?) - Sans Souci

There appears to be an abandoned CX Prestige C-matic round the corner from me. I Have just noticed it but it has probably been there for a couple of weeks - the scrap car dealers have seen it and have left their calling card under the wiper.
It's in a tatty condition with rust on the doors and the interior has badly cracked seats. Steering wheel has a moth-eaten look. See attached photos.
Does anybody here have any idea who it belongs to? The street has no history of Citroen owners so it is a mystery why it is parked where it is.Abandoned CX Prestige (?) - Sans Souci-image.jpgAbandoned CX Prestige (?) - Sans Souci-image-1-.jpgAbandoned CX Prestige (?) - Sans Souci-image-2-.jpg

Maybe it's been dumped. It could be a 2400 injected C-matic. I've never seen that combination in a CX before (then again I've only ever seen a handful of prestiges too).

I don't believe it has been dumped / abandoned. I know the Citroen-fancier who acquired it from Aldo (remember it was listed via eBay an also in AF classifieds) earlier this year and the intention is restoration. I think it may be a UK car via NZ ???

The vehicle has not moved in three months and the local Bayside Council has today slapped a big orange Impound Notice on the driver's window. The owner is told to move it or face it being towed away and sold at auction or crushed if the value is deemed to be less than $500.
There are no plates on the car but the notice cites the registration number as being MR4759.

David, if you know who owns the vehicle then you need to tell him that he has two weeks to remove it. I have just had a Bayside Council officer ring my front door bell. He saw my DS in the driveway and thought I might know something about the CX. I told him about my Aussiefrogs post and how nobody has owned up for it.
The officer said the vehicle will be crushed because its value is under $500. I told him I would try a final post to Aussiefrogs in the hope that a two week deadline would prod someone in to action. If the owner wants to contact Bayside Council then phone 02 9562 1666 and ask for John W.
I would hate to see the car written off as it is completely salvageable but the crusher might be its fate if nobody wants it. I'd take it off the owner's hands myself if nobody wants it.

Doug, a thoughtful effort. I did make contact about it last week, but will do so again. Surprised it's still there.

John W will try anything to get his hands on another CX. Even posing as a council officer.

Has anyone got a car trailer they can winch it onto .... If its sitting on a registered car trailer .... its classed as registed and it can't be taken (I'm pretty sure).

    seeya,

That is still true in NSW. There is some guy near my work who must make money buying and parting wrecks. He has a daggy old Tarago that is registered, attached to one of those single axle front wheel lift trailers that he nearly always has a car in various stages of parting sitting on. I think eventually the parting car moves to his garage, but whilst it's on that trailer the council can't do a thing. (It's also non time zone parking so can't be ticketed for time violation)

    However...

The way things are going with trailer parking in NSW I imagine this cunning plan could fade away. There are areas of Sydney where people, who may not even live in the area, long term park their boat or van - esp boats near boat ramp areas. Councils now have state laws behind them to start restricting this rather greedy practice.

I did have a look at the car at Aldos place and yes the rust was not so good but it was a nice car with well aged leather seats.

My friend and I sat in the back together dreaming we were smoking big cigars and conjuring up the next world order.

    Cool Car

David, the vehicle is still there and the two weeks for removal were up at the weekend. This afternoon I phoned the council officer, John Wilde, and asked if anyone had contacted him. He said nobody has come forward.
I asked him for another two weeks but he is going on holiday this Friday for five weeks and the car will be towed to the crusher on Thursday before he goes.
I told him a forum member has tried to contact the owner to warn him of the loss of the vehicle if it is not moved. John Wilde says the only way a stay of execution will be granted is if somebody ( perhaps you, David) phones him with the owner's name and phone number. That way the ownership will be established and the vehicle will no longer be regarded as abandoned.

David, I did not have a chance to check it on Friday/Saturday, but I've just been around the corner and the car is gone. I'm not sure whether it was your contact who towed it away or the council. If it has gone to the crusher then it is a very unfortunate ending.

Last I heard, it was intended to move it before council turned up. Hope so.

Now at Pickles Milperra, auction date as both TBA and 24/7 10am so who knows, listed as a C2.
Maybe the question mark over availability (item not yet available for sale) is a squabble over ownership.

Hmm. Listed as a manual, C-matic on the boot lid.

    Hope someone rescues it.
