no idea what they acquired with Vauxhall and Opel but with Holden the badge-engineering shared platforms meant a kind of economy of scale is possible.

From what I've heard, PSA haven't built a single new Astra and Commodore for Holden so far this year and don't look like starting up again until the second half of 2019 and even then if that happens. I've heard that the Astra and Commodore will no longer be part of Holden's lineup by the end of this year, there'll be a reduced lineup of 4 or 5 models, Trax, Equinox, Acadia, Trailblazer and Colorado (maybe??)and another round of dealership closures. There's also meant to be another 'big announcement' by Holden in May or June this year, which I believe will be when GM call's it quits in Australia and or handing over the brand to a third party - cue, Inchcape!

    January 2019 sales figures:

    Citroen:

    C3 - 6 Units
    C4 Cactus - 2 Units
    Berlingo - 7 Units
    Dispatch - 17 Units (??)

    Total - 32 Units - Up 28%

    Peugeot:

    208 - 11 Units
    308 - 13 Units
    2008 - 14 Units
    3008 - 82 Units
    5008 - 33 Units

    Total - 153 Units - Down 29.8%

The Citroen Dispatch is still a mystery for me. It mush be the new generation that Inchcape is bringing in, even though it's not listed on Citroen Australia's web site. There was also 3 sold at the end of 2018.

Inchcape need to sell the current stock remaining before they release details of the uprated ones or theyíll end up with another fire sale.

Sounds like 3+17 for sales evaluation / demo, leaving 15 units for January. Years of Cactus stock on hand at that rate!

The Annual General meeting of the Citroen car Club of QLD would prove to Inchcape executives that there can be a viable future for Citroen in this country.......If only we could get an executive along to witness the enthusiasm....and think long term.
Members arrived in: a 2CV, a 4cyl Traction, a 6 cyl Traction, a GS, several C5s, an SM, Xantias, a DSpecial and a CX....all exhibiting a range of belief and support for the brand....and it has to be said that these owners are repeat buyers and serial owners.

I believe these days it is the quality of the local service to customers that gives success. In this day of consumerism, customers will just not tolerate a second rate experience. With dealerships sparse and under stocked sales numbers cannot be expected to grow.
I draw a parallel with Renault, whose presence has grown greatly in this country from almost non existence. The Citroen product is viable given advertising and presence.

Perhaps the problem is that you all came in museum pieces. They may be slighty more enthusiastic if you drive modern Cits and show your interest in buying current cars. Though on present indications, only may be.

The best way to bring the brands to public notice is to put them in shopping malls and let the product sell itself.

Unfortunately I don't think they would be interested even then.

As I posted in my rant thread last year when having warranty repair issues with my C4 Grand Picasso, my family (my wife and I and 3 kids) have purchased 12 CitroŽns between us, 8 of them brand new, since 2001 yet Inchcape/PCA could barely raise any interest in assisting us after Continental was prevented from doing the repair. They couldn't even point me to a dealer who could do the work, couldn't tell me if parts were available, couldn't provide a loan car, nothing.

Despite being cut out of the network, Continental went above and beyond in helping me sort out the problems at their own expense, confirming availability of parts, helping us get the car towed and more. Any car importer would kill to get a dealer as dedicated and customer focused as Continental. Not Inchcape!

Inchcape's management of CitroŽn in Australia is completely inept. I find it astounding that they could screw things up so badly.

Yes, Continental was the source of Xantia parts that our Perth dealer said were NLA, time and time again....

Inept barely says it. I can only imagine the Inchcape folk are taking their inspiration from the hugely successful Brexit process....

Hahaha, I like you irony. A bit like awarding a ferry contract to a company that doesnít have ferries.

Nothing special there. Subcontracting is based on that principle.

Hard to argue against that one from some contract arrangements I have seen over the years....

I am wondering if maybe the Moderators could shoot off this thread to the "power brokers" at Inchcape ... they may well not know unless someone tells them. Middle management serves to obscure situations and so top management may well be in the dark

They are well aware of poor sales, and that new dealers aren't out-performing culled ones. They are also well aware that existing owners, normally the easiest to sell to, aren't lining up for new cars.

The whole show is so utterly incompetent you have to wonder what is happening in the organisation..

I defer to your greater knowledge and in the meantime the "museum pieces" are still creating comment....cheap advertising really, and maybe the only sort that is out there. But they can't sell what they haven't got.

Inchcape couldnít have taken over at a worse time I suspect.

When I remember the days when I had a head off, or a crankshaft on the bench, or had to solder a radiator or set up a diff, something every weekend, I am thankful cars aren't built as they used to be. What's fun on a hobby car soon pales on a daily driver.

You don’t need a licence to drive one! CitroŽn has changed the rules! Very good.

france has long had things that look like cars (2 seat, 4 wheel, weather proof) which don't need licences ... Ligier may be one manufacturer, IIRC
